Characterized by interdependence, affiliation and

cooperation.



What is “familismo”?



Imbalance is expressed as too much this and that.



What is hot & cold?



I am characterized by vasoconstriction and low

metabolic rates.



What are cold diseases?



Spiritual problems are usually treated with these 2 things.



What are prayer and ritual?



High blood pressure is a hot disease and is treated with these

types of medications.



What are cold medications?



I am not seen as an illness, but more of a weakness and

embarrassment to my family.



What is depression?



I am at the heart of family & community.



What is the church?



The most common religion within the culture.



What is Roman Catholic?



You can find these in either the living room or bedroom of most

Hispanic homes.



What are alters?



Burning of candles 24/7 signifies this.



What is sustaining worship?



We are important rites practiced within the religion.



What are the baptism of infants and the anointing of the sick.



One of the staples of the Hispanic diet.



What is rice and beans?



Key element in all communication.



What is respect?



Don’t’ think about the future; we operate more in this.



What is the present?



Most significant health problem seen in this culture related to

dietary habits.



What is obesity?



Shift from traditional practices to adopting practices of the mainstream

society.



What is acculturation?
