THE BSA MISSION
MISSION STATEMENT AND PURPOSE
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
SCOUT OATH
On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

• Encourage your scout to wear his uniform correctly

• Catholic cub scouts are highly encouraged to earn Light of Christ (Tigers and Wolves) and Parvuli Dei (Bears and Webelos)
• Cub scouts belonging to other religious faiths are encouraged to earn the emblem of their faith

• Who we areWe support and promote Catholic youth ministry in the Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Camp Fire programs. We primarily serve the scouting and camp fire units in the Santa Clara county. Our group organizes the annual Catholic awards recognition ceremony, and co-sponsors the annual Retreat-O-Ree. We also provide training and fellowship for leaders, counselors and youth ministers.
• The committee meets at St. Joseph’s in Cupertino, Stevens Creek and De Anza Blvd. 4th Monday of January, March, May, August, and October 7:00pm

Diocese of San Jose Safe Environment
• “All personnel in every Diocesan institution or Catholic school who have regular contact with children, minors and/or vulnerable adults must comply with Safe Environment Requirements…Any persons, who are involved in any overnight activity with a child in any Diocesan institution or program, even if only on one occasion, shall be deemed to have ‘regular contact with children.’ (p.8)”
• “Safe Environment Requirements: shall mean the personal screening process established by the Diocese, acknowledgement of receipt of the Diocesan Adult Code of Conduct, and completion of the Safe Environment training program (Shield the Vulnerable, or equivalent). Safe Environment training must be renewed every three (3) years (p. 6).”
• All employees 18 years of age or older, and volunteers who work with youth are required to complete the following “safe environment” course via the Shield the Vulnerable online course (www.shieldthevulnerable.org) every three (3) years:
