What is CTS?
CTS stands for Career and Technology Studies
The CTS program is unique to Alberta and offers both Junior and Senior High Students many opportunities.
The purpose of CTS is to allow students to explore a variety of different potential career paths, as well as broadening their understanding in topics of interest.
What Can I Take in CTS?
The types of courses offered vary from exploratory, to specific and more preparatory at the high school level.
Over 650 courses offered making up 28 occupational areas
Potential for Apprenticeship Programs
Why Take CTS?
Requirement to take at least 10 credits towards any of the following courses: Fine ArtsSecond LanguagesPhysical Education 20 or 30Local Authorized CoursesCTS
Various opportunities while allowing students to receive credits toward their diploma.
Drawbacks
Not all schools have the funding to support some of these courses.
However there are a variety of online courses that allow students to obtain these classes through distance learning.
