CTE Statewide Course Equivalencies
OSPI in accordance with legislation passed in the 2014 session which amended RCW 28A.700.070, RCW 28A.230.097, and RCW 28A.230.010, developed statewide course equivalencies in Mathematics and Science for 21 CTE courses
The courses were approved for Statewide Equivalency Credit by the State Board of Education in May 2015
School districts must provide the opportunity to access at least one CTE course considered equivalent to Mathematics or Science
CTE Statewide Course Equivalencies
The course should be recorded on the student’s transcript using the equivalent academic high school department designation and title

Precision Exams UpdateStudents that pass the exam and
performance portion of the exam will earn a Washington State Career Skills Certification
7,223 exams were given throughout Washington State in the 2013-14 school year

STEM Professional Development
STEM Renewal Requirement for CTE Teachers (RCW 28A.410.2212): At least 15 clock hours, or one-half of one annual
professional growth plan (PGP), must have an emphasis on STEM integration for ALL CTE Instructors. This requirement applies to certificates being renewed starting in 2019.
What Does STEM PD Require: The learning or activity must demonstrate
authentic integration of 2 of the following 4 elements: science, technology, engineering and/or math.

The CTE OIS and CTE Counselor applications will never be an online application
