Society of Competitive Programmers Officer Board Elections Hello everyone! The Society of Competitive Programmers (SCP) will be holding elections on Thursday November 8th from 6pm to 8pm. If you are interested in becoming an SCP officer for this coming spring and fall semesters and you are an active member of SCP, please fill out this application: https://goo.gl/forms/FQNuCYTcavipEzW92. We will be closing the application on October 29th at 11:59pm. You are eligible to run for an officer position only if you will be a USF student (undergraduate or graduate) for the next year (this coming spring and fall semesters). Therefore, if you are graduating in December 2019 or later, then you can run for an officer position. You are eligible to vote for the new officer board on November 8th if you have attended at least 2 SCP club meetings. SCP is a student organization on campus devoted to helping interested students train in preparation for computer programming competitions and hackathons through technical workshops and programming sessions. CRD seeking SUS students or recent grads for Policy Fellow

positions for winter session in DC

Deadline October 26, 2018

As you know, we have hired 32 outstanding SUS students or recent graduates in recent years to work in our full-time Policy Fellow positions here in the firm on Capitol Hill. We are now beginning the search for several new Policy Fellows for the period from January 7, 2019 through May 10. We need your help in getting the word out to any of your students or recent graduates who might be interested in living in Washington and working with us during that time. Ideal candidates will have expressed an interest in advocacy or public policy, preferably with a focus on education, health or science. Fellows are paid at $13.25 per hour. The duties are varied and range from attending and summarizing hearings and markups, writing articles on legislative developments, arranging and organizing meetings with Congressional offices, preparing Hill Advocacy Day materials, providing general support here in the firm, and many other “duties as assigned” that pop up during the period. This is a great Capitol Hill experience and all our Fellows have gone on to continued success in government, Congress, lobbying, graduate school, the foreign service or media. (Several of our permanent staff here in the firm are former Fellows.) Students or recent graduates who are interested should send a cover letter,

Carnegie Mellon University Heinz College Paid Summer Fellowships for 2019

Students currently in their junior year of college (from any major) are eligible to apply to two distinct summer fellowships hosted by CMU’s Heinz College:

• Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Junior Summer Institute

Deadline November 1, 2018

• IT Lab: Summer Security Intensive (SSI)

Deadline February 1, 2019

Each program is a 7-week in-residence experience and feature:

• Specialized courses taught by CMU faculty: Fellows earn CMU academic credit for coursework (eligible for transfer to home institution)

• $1,000 stipend + the costs of housing, meals, books, supplies, social functions, and travel expenses to and from Pittsburgh

• A scholarship of at least 50% of graduate school tuition, if admitted to and enroll in a master’s program at Heinz College.

• Learn modern coding practices: Apex, Visualforce, JavaScript for Lightning. • Develop and implement new software programs on Salesforce platform. • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software. • Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications and best practices. • Integrate third-party programs with Salesforce. • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing and new software. • Continually investigate, recommend and execute on platform improvements. • Become an expert on Agile methodologies and work in a collaborative, team-based environment. • Create technical documentation for reference and reporting.

Qualifications

• You should be authorized to work permanently in the U.S. and live in the U.S.

• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better is required at time of interview and hire.

• A Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field attained between July 2018 – June 2019 is required.

• Demonstrate and execute basic to strong knowledge of either: Java, JavaScript, JQuery, Node.Js, JSON, XML, SQL, HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3/etc.
