    Installing Linux

In terms of networking, two things are important

    Partitioning the hard disk

Values for root(/) and swap should beentered

    correctly. Configuring the NIC Card

Values for IP address and Subnet mask

    should

    be entered correctly.

    Enabling Access to Other OS

    Network File System (NFS)

Standard for sharing files and printers on a directory with Linux

    and Unix computers.

    It uses three services:

Portmapper-manages the remote procedure call (RPC) connections,

which are used by protocols such as NFS.

Nfsd -It translates NFS requests into actual requests on the local file

    system.

Mountd-It services the requests for mounting and unmounting filesystems.
