Now that you have had a chance to consider how Networking, resume building, and career search databases work, as well as having had an opportunity to interview a professional in your field of interest, let's discuss what this means for your future.

The Discussion Board Requirement:The Discussion Board Requirement:

•Students are to post a minimum of three posts per discussion thread. One initial response and two replies to their classmates

•Posting on a minimum of three different days, for example: Wednesday, Friday and Monday

•The first post must be made by Saturday –no exceptions (but the sooner the better).

•Be Substantive. Use 100 words minimum for each of the three required responses. Say something meaningful! Add Value!

•Spelling, Grammar, punctuation all matter. You will lose points for misspelled or misused words, poor grammar or incorrect punctuation including capitalization.

Many interviews (even for an assignment) have led to a job offer. You may want to use the following guidelines when contacting the person and explain the following:

•  You are going to be interviewing the person as a requirement for your Academic Strategies course.

•  Let them now that you have a strong interest in this area for a future career. • You will need about 30 minutes to complete the interview.

You can do your interview in person or over thePhone but in person is preferred!

Remember!  The person you interview may become a contact for future jobs, so choose wisely.  

The assignment for Unit 8 began in Unit 7. This is your Interview with a Professional.
