Issue of Cryptogenic Stroke

Aligning to the AHA/ASA 2020 Impact Goal of reducing cardiovascular disease and stroke

mortality by 20%:

The American Stroke Association and Medtronic are elevating the issue of cryptogenic stroke because better diagnosing and managing patients will save

lives from our nation’s No. 5 killer and a leading cause of serious, long-term disability.

Reducing the Burden of Cryptogenic Stroke

The Cryptogenic Stroke Initiative

During the two years of the Initiative, it will:1. Track and monitor trends in cryptogenic stroke care through

our GWTG-Stroke database and tracking studies2. Launch a Public Awareness Campaign to educate

physicians and stroke patients on best stroke care practices, including local trainings at Stroke Bootcamps

3. Work with thought leaders to drive improved management of cryptogenic stroke in their practices

4. Publish outcomes
