Join us on this fantastic trip and visit two very different islands – Kinn and Svanøy. Right outin the sea lies the green, grass covered island of Kinn. The legendary Kinn church is built inthe Roman building style, and has been in use since the 12th Century. It is believed that the church was built by Celts fleeing religious persecution. One of the few inhabitants on the island will guide you through fascinating stories and myths connected to the church. Also being a musician, she will play some music in the church. This is not only a guided tour but an experience! The mountain cliff behind the church rises steeply, and the overwhelming cleft of Kinn is its nearest neighbour.

The second island we will visit on this tour is Svanøy. Also known as “The jewel of Sunnfjord”, the most fertile island in the municipality of Flora. Here the locals have protected their cultural and natural treasures and produced a destination that combines the best of both worlds. “Svanøy Hovedgård” was in the 17th century one of the best-developed estate farms in the west of Norway.We will visit the Norwegian Deer Centre. This is the national centre for spreading knowledge and developing competence in association with wild deer and deer breed on farms. You can take pictures and get close to those wonderful animals while feeding them.

Description of Attraction: The Medieval Church (from about 1050) on the Isle of Kinn lies in spec-tacular scenery, overlooking the mighty ocean and the characteristic mountain-cleft called Kinnaklova to the west.• During the presentation, the church will have lighted candles and flower decorations. • A brief history of the 11th century medieval church, the legends con-nected to it and its interior• Live music performed on C- flute and the church’s pipe organ• Time on your own for taking a closer look, photographing, etc.This church is unique in both Scandinavia and Northern Europe, mostly due to the well-preserved wooden gallery relief. Description of Attraction: The Norwegian Deer Centre is located on Svanøy, a beautiful island also known as the “gem of Sunnfjord”. At the centre you’ll find a group of deer specialists, a deer park and an information centre. In the deer park you may come in close contact with tame reed deer, and will learn more about them by taking part on our guided tour. You will also find fallow deer, sheep, rabbits and peacocks there. At the centre there is a small scale abattoir, a gourmet kitchen and unique dining.

Description of Attraction: The island of Svanøy has been a meeting point along this stretch of coast ever since the viking ages. Svanøy Hovedgård is the island’s main estate. It was owned by Bjørgvin bishop until the Reformation, upon which it became crown lands until 1662 and then a dairy farm. Directly opposite the main farm is a graveyard with its large stone cross, dating back to ca. 1000 and one of four featuring runes in Norway. Join a guided tour through the beautiful houses and learn more about the his-tory of the island. It is possible to drive with a small bus from the Estate Farm to the Norwegian Deer Centre.

The Coastal Museum in Florø

Starting from the pier we take you through the charming town of Florø. Learn how Florø became an important port along the western coast of Norway, forming a main stop on journeys along the rugged coast to and from Bergen.The first stop will be at the Coastal Museum. This museum was established in 1980 and is con-stantly expanding its collection, safeguarding the history and heritage of the coastal villages. The exhibition includes cultural and historical collections, displaying everything from kitchen utensils and furnitures to boats, fishing and hunting equipment. A separate exhibitiondemonstrates oil extraction and processing in the North Sea. On this exhibit the room itself is unique, having been designed in a converted pillar of an actual oil-rig.The tour continues with a drive to Brandsøyåsen Viewpoint. This is a popular recreational area for the local inhabitants. At 293 m above sea level you can enjoy a fantastic 360 degree view of Florø and the surrounding landscape. On our return to Florø we will visit Fjord Base. Set along the sea at the foot of Brandsøyåsen, this is the regions largest supply base for oil rigs, and oneof the principal industries of Florø. The tour wraps up with a drive through the historic town centre to the pier. Florø is a modern town in many ways, yet it is the oldest one in the county. Although Florø has gone through many changes, the original charm has remained.

Description of Attraction: The Coastal Museum is part of the foundation ”Musea in Sogn og Fjordane”. The museum is based in Florø with three modern museum buildings in an 18 acre public area. You can visit three exhibitions: The boat hall, the oil exhibition and the Florø town history department. It lies in a varied landscape of coastal areas connected with paths and bridges. The paths through the area constitute an open-air museum with buildings - farms, houses and fishing villages.

Description of Attraction: Brandsøyåsen is a very popular recreational area for the local inhabitants of Florø. We drive to the top. At 293m above sea level you can enjoy the most fantastic 360 degree view of Florø and the surrounding landscape. An attached spyglass can be used for free. People with the possibility to walk on uneven ground can visit a stone-pyramid, which shows stone samples from the whole region. It is exciting to drive with a small bus up the tiny road. This is truly an experience you won’t forget.

We offer you a great trip by boat from Florø to Kalvåg. The fishing community of Kalvåg issituated far out to sea, with the cape of Stadt as its neighbour in the north and the openNorth Sea to the west. Here you can explore one of the best preserved fishing villages in Wes-tern Norway. Around the bay sea houses are clustered together, full of atmosphere. You can visit the old herring salting houses, go for a walk along the open air art exhibition or justenjoy the atmosphere. The Vamråk Salting House formerly housed a copper smiths, a carpenter’sshop, salt herring and cod liver oil production and a base for the fishery. Today the tools and equipment lie about, creating an authentic impression that the workers are absent for a five minute break in the early post-war years. Visit the local galleries, and have a look at the art and crafts of Kalvåg. Kalvåg is also famous for its excellent seafood, and there is no better place to enjoy it than Knutholmen Restaurant, where we stop for lunch. Set right by the sea,the architecture, decor and cuisine of this village gathering point all proudly reflect the vibrant coastal heritage of Kalvåg. On our journey back to Florø we could make a detour to the ancient rock carvings of Vingen if desired. A guide will be there to explain the over 3000year old carvings.

Description of Attraction: The fishing community Kalvåg is situated far out with the North Sea. In Kalvåg you can find a Tourist Information, restaurants, a café, a grocery store and different souvenir shops. Trade and Industry once developed a cluster of approximately 50 seahouses round the harbour. Today, the boathouses have been restored and offer a lovely sight. You can still feel the charm of an old, Norwegian fishing village.You can visit the Frøya Gallery and the Holmen Atelier. If you are up for a little walk you can learn more about the life and history of Kalvåg, while visiting the Vamråk Salting House or the old “Totlands slippen” boat garage.

Description of Attraction: Vamråkbuene is situated in Kalvåg. During the large herring fisheries in the middle of the 18th Century Kalvåg was a true fishing metropole with many thousands of visi-ting fishermen. Vamråkbuene represents one part of the trading life that theherring fisheries created, and today, is part of the Coastal musuem in Sogn og Fjordane. Here you can have a guided tour (arranged beforehand) and an exciting insight in to how the fish industry has developed from the 18th Century to modern times.The fishing village Kalvåg is the largest and best preserved fishing village’s in Western Norway. Kalvåg is beautiful and it’s history is even more fasc inating. In 1860,there lived over 10,000 inhabitants under the large herring fisheries. Today, there is approximately 500 inhabitants.

Description of Attraction: In the narrow Vingen fjord, between steep mountain sides, lies Vingen, one of the largest and most characteristic rock craving sites in northern Europe. Here you will find between 1000 and 1500 figures, believed to be made by hunter gathers from the early stone age (approximately 4000-6000 years old). The deer is a popular motif, but you will also find human figures and abstract symbols. The area is protec-ted, and only organised trips are permitted.

This tour starts with a short sightseeing in Florø and its surroundings. We continue with a won-derful scenic drive to the village of Naustdal, following the fjord before crossing the mountain of Ramsdalsheia. There will be stops for photo shoots at a sea farm along the way and at the rushing salmon river of Nausta.In Naustdal we stop at The Black Friday Museum, established in memory of the biggest dogfight fought out in the skies over Norway during World War II. Here we will also have a taste of the local cuisine; the museum is also a dining establishment within the Norwegian Farm Food As-sociation. The tour continues along the shores of the Førdefjord, before the spectacularly scenic crossing of Heilefjellet. Driving through the villages of Vevring, which has a interesting open air art exhi-bition, and Stavang we reach the Rock Carvings in Ausevik. Here we have a guided tour through one of the biggest Rock Carving fields in Northern Europe, which has been newlyrenovated. On our return journey we can stop at Eikefjord village for a coffee at the quirky tie-museum before arriving back in Florø.

Description of Attraction: The Black Friday Museum was built in memory of Feb 9th 1945. On this day 15 planes were shot down during the combat over the Førde fjord. This was the largest combat over Norwegian soil during WWII. The Black Friday Museum is both a dining place and a museum. Description of Attraction: Our friendly and competent guide takes you on a journey back in time. In Ausevika you will find over 3000 year old figures. The site contains more than 300 carvings, human as well as animal figures in addition to fertility and agricultural symbols which are called «Veidemannskunst». This tour starts with a short sightseeing in Florø. We continue with a wonderful scenic drive to the village of Naustdal, following the fjord. There will be stops for photo shoots at a sea farm along the way and at the rushing salmon river of Nausta.We follow the Førdefjord to Førde. A short drive from Førde we stop at 90-metre high Huldefos-sen waterfall, one of the most iconic in Fjord Norway. We continue our trip to Skei, where we stop for lunch at one of the local hotels or restaurants. After lunch there will be time to relax or maybe go shopping at one of Norway’s most famous souvenir shops - the Audhild Vikens Vevstove. After lunch we make our way back towards the coast, stopping at Sunnfjord Museum. The museum is one of four district museums in the County of Sogn & Fjordane. The main feature of this open-air museum is the cluster of buildings that have been transported here from various places in the Sunnfjord district. 25 antiquarian build-ings in authentic cultural landscape provide an insight into how life was in Sunnfjord settlements in the mid-1800. The crofter’s holding is on its original site, the interior of the home is as it was at the turn of the 20th century. On the return to Florø we cross the mountain of Ramsdalsheia to enjoy the wonderful view. The local inhabitants go skiing here in the wintertime and hiking in the summertime. The road is nar-row and with many curves – just as one could expect in the western parts of Norway. We will be back in Florø after approximately 8 hours full of experiences. This tour cuts through the very heart of Norway – past, present, future.

A memorable roundtrip, in beautiful surroundings packed with historical highlights. The trip starts from Florø with a drive to the town of Svelgen. This has been an industrial town for many years. Surrounded by beautiful mountains Svelgen is also a popular recreational area. The trip continues to Ålfoten, where you might get a glance of the glacier. On our way to Ålfoten we can stop at Myklebustsætra, one of the few traditional summer mountain farms still running in the traditional way. As we continue our tour the impressive Hornelen, Northern Europe’s highest sea cliff, comes in sight. It towers over 850m above sealevel and is an important landmark for ships.Further we will visit one of the most beautiful churches in the area, Rugsund Kyrkje. The bus also passes other interesting historical areas, such as a medieval graveyard, as we continue to Grotle on the island of Bremanger. The stunning white sand beaches of Grotle are renouned throughout the region. We continue to the charming seaside village of Kalvåg, where we havelunch at Knutholmen Restaurant which specialises in local seafood. There will also be time to explore the local shops and museums of Kalvåg before heading back to Florø by ferry from Smør-hamn to Kjelkenes, continuing our return by bus.

Description of Attraction: Rugsund church is a wooden ”long church” which is located on the farm of Hessevå-gen on the mainland side of Rugsund in the municipality of Bremanger. The church was consecrated on 2 September 1838. There has been a church in Rugsund (on the island of Rugsundøya) since the 1200s. The first church was a stave church that was replaced in 1650. The present church building was constructed in 1838 after the previous one burned down. The beautiful location of the previous church on the point above the harbour was a navigational landmark for ships. When the present church was to be built, people demanded a similarly beautiful location. At Rugsund, the church was centrally located with the main entrance facing the sea, and with an excellent view from the church steps across the sound to the island. The churchyard encircles the church, and furthest down to the sea, there is a stately gate that the seafarers in earlier times walked through on their way to church. This was also the place where the vicar went ashore when he came by boat from Davik.

Description of Attraction: The fishing community Kalvåg is situated far out with the North Sea. In Kalvåg you can find a Tourist Information, restaurants, a café, a grocery store and different souvenir shops. Trade and Industry once developed a cluster of approximately 50 seahouses round the harbour. Today, the boathouses have been restored and offer a lovely sight. You can still feel the charm of an old, Norwegian fishing village.You can visit the Frøya Gallery and the Holmen Atelier. If you are up for a little walk you can learn more about the life and history of Kalvåg, while visiting the Vamråk Salting House or the old “Totlands slippen” boat garage.

Description of Attraction: Vamråkbuene is situated in Kalvåg. During the large herring fisheries in the middle of the 18th Century Kalvåg was a true fishing metropole with many thousands of visi-ting fishermen. Vamråkbuene represents one part of the trading life that theherring fisheries created, and today, is part of the Coastal musuem in Sogn og Fjordane. Here you can have a guided tour (arranged beforehand) and an exciting insight in to how the fish industry has developed from the 18th Century to modern times.The fishing village Kalvåg is the largest and best preserved fishing village’s in Western Norway. Kalvåg is beautiful and it’s history is even more fasc inating. In 1860,there lived over 10,000 inhabitants under the large herring fisheries. Today, there is approximately 500 inhabitants.

Værlandet and Bulandet are the westernmost inhabited island communities in Norway.They have a unique landscape consisting of sheltered harbours and bays combined withmarshland and lakes. A new road, the North Sea portal, connects the islands with 6 bridges along 5,5 km of road, tying them together like pearls on a string. A fantastic tour through lands-cape. The most important industries here are fish processing, salmon farming,stone quarries and stone processing, fishing net production and tourism. Bulandet has 365 is-lands and is referred to as “Venice of the North”. Here you can find a museum with an exhibition about common life and the fishermen’s life back through time.Sørværet Nature Reserve covers a large part of Værlandet. With extensive marshland it is an important site for bird life and boasts an exceptionally varied flora and fauna. In the harbour the fishermen cabins are protected, dating back to the last half of the 19th century. This is a full day trip with boat and coach.

Join us on a thrilling and exotic Light House Safari, taking in three of the county’s most westerly light houses and going ashore at one of them for a light lunch.The history of the light houses in Norway is intriguing. About 150 years ago the first light houses were built along our long and perilous coast. The waters around Florø are dangerous and stormy, and three light houses were built along the seaward approach to the town. On our tour in an open RIB-boat we stop at a seal colony and the nest of a sea eagle and we will hopefully experience these great examples for the fauna in our region. We also pass the island of Kinn and learn about the myths and history of the island. For your safety and comfort we will provide floating-suits which will be warm and serve as life vests. Description of Attraction: Storeåsen Viewpoint makes the 10 min uphill walk worth it. You can enjoy a lovely view over the island around Florø and the town itself. After a 10 min walk on a gravel walk you will climb up the last part of the track. This part is steeper and a hiking trail. After 50 m you are at the viewing point. You will find benches and tables there. Around Storeåsen Viewpoint are old German tunnels and bunkers from WWII which can be explored.

Join Florø’s History Club on this intriguing 2-hour guided tour through tunnels and bunkers of the Second World War. Florø was then used by the Germans as a base to defend their occupied territories on the Euro-pean mainland from attacks by the Allied Forces. Learn the Norwegian side of the story as you walk to the bunkers up on the hill “Storeåsen” in the centre of Florø. You canalso enjoy the lovely view from there. Continue your journey to canons which are still standing right in the middle of a residential area.

Description of Attraction: Brandsøyåsen is a very popular recreational area for the local inhabitants of Florø. We drive to the top. At 293m above sea level you can enjoy the most fantastic 360 degree view of Florø and the surrounding landscape. An attached spyglass can be used for free. People with the possibility to walk on uneven ground can visit a stone-pyramid, which shows stone samples from the whole region. It is exciting to drive with a small bus up the tiny road. This is truly an experience you won’t forget.
