The islands Hitra and Frøya are known as the centre of gravity of Norwegian salmon. This is where the salmon adventure started. Since then, Norwegian salmon has become a global brand because of its remarkable quality. The good conditions for fish farming in the area is probably one of the reasons for this.
Listen to the story and experience how Norwegian salmon is produced. First, we will visit one of the largest and most modern fish hatcheries where the salmon roe develops into alevin. Afterwards, we will go to a grow-out facility out on the sea where the salmon grows to become big, including feeding of the salmon from edge of the net cage. We will continue to one of our processing plants and conclude our journey at Hitra Kysthavn, which is the shipping port for salmon to the Continent. With this excursion, you will become acquainted with the whole food chain from roe to alevin, to fish processing and finally shipping to the market. The only thing left is to taste the product. The excursion ends up in a tasty lunch where you will be able to taste the most award-winning courses from sea and land that Hitra has become famous for. The lunch will be served at the Terningen lighthouse, just by the sea.
