Estimation Report(2nd) - Agra
• Satellite Potato crop acreage seems to have decrease and
Wheat crop acreage increase in 2015-16 as compared to
Akchhadan report statistics released by Agriculture Ministry
(2015-16).
• Yield estimates are made from satellite derived Normalized
Difference Vegetation Index.
• NDVI was normal in February month in most of the blocks
except Bah and Jaitpur Kalan.
• NDVI in the month of March 2016 is below normal for Wheat
and Potato crop as compared to March 2015 in most of the
blocks. This may have impact on yield production in district.

– Wheat and Potato crops identified using unsupervised classification of
satellite images
– Predefined spectral values of Wheat and Potato overlaid on false
colour composite image to estimate the crop area
– Area estimation
• Results(Wheat)
– Satellite derived Wheat area in rabi (2015-16) = 144900 ha
– Area targeted of Wheat by govt report (2015-16)=136775 ha
– Area achieved of Wheat by govt report (2015-16)=136777 ha
– Increase in acreage of Wheat crop by Satellite = 8123 ha
• Results(Potato)
– Satellite derived Potato area in rabi (2015-16) = 67369 ha
– Area targeted of Potato by govt report (2015-16)=72000 ha
– Area achieved of Potato by govt report (2015-16)=74300 ha
– Decrease in acreage of Potato crop by Satellite = -6931 ha
