The Biggest Morning Tea was very successful thanks to the wonderful community spirit we have in our district. Thank you to the North Star CWA ladies for joining us as well as Croppa Creek locals. Great to see Lawrie and Matthew braving all the women. I don't think they had much of a choice as the jug had blown up the day before. Another male turned up a little late to devour quite a few scones in the school car park after we had cleaned up....not mentioning any names. A big thank you to Bronwyn Smith (Bristol Beads) and Cassie Coleman (Cassie's Coffees) who made donations from their stalls for the morning. $589.10 was made in total and has been banked towards the Cancer Council of Australia. Certainly a worthwhile cause as we all know someone who has been affected by it in some way. Thank you to everyone who brought along food, goods for sale and enjoyed the company of others....something that we probably should do more often! Thanks to Anthea O'Sullivan for brightening up our tables with pansies, violas and herbs. The Croppa Creek students and staff certainly enjoyed coming over and sharing in the morning tea. I know Dan (our new principal) would like to have one every week! Wendy Forsyth

Rabobank offers competitive Farm Management Deposit rate Rabobank FMDs allow primary producers to choose from a range of competitive variable, short-term fixed or long-term fixed interest rate options. Rabobank has announced a rate of 4.25 per cent for one or two years, fixed term. FMDs are available to primary producers as a tax-effective planning strategy to set aside pre-tax income from profitable years to help manage business during the cyclical nature of the agricultural industry. The key benefit of these investments is that they are fully tax deductible in the year of deposit and only taxable in the year of withdrawal (deposits must usually be held of a minimum of 12 months to qualify for these tax benefits). Nick Bettington Rabobank branch manager Moree, said an FMD is an effective financial management tool where farmers can set aside funds in good farming years to access later when cash flow is tight. “Towards the end of the financial year, producers start thinking about tax – investing in a farm management deposit allows them to set aside pre-tax income from profitable years to help manage business during the less favourable years,”. Government legislation changes that were introduced in 2012 allow customers to hold an FMD across multiple financial institutions – this is good news because it allows producers flexibility. “With Rabobank, producers are able to choose the FMD that best suits their financial needs from a range of variable or fixed term product options on a minimum investment of $1000 to a maximum of $400,000 per person is allowed under the scheme.” In addition to being covered by the Australian Federal government guarantee of deposits (for deposits up to $250,000), all Rabobank FMDs are fully guaranteed by Rabobank Australia’s ultimate global parent company Rabobank*, giving FMD holders peace of mind. Mr Bettington said there is more “good news on the horizon” for farmers, with proposed legislative changes ahead that will change the threshold of off-farm income, increasing from $65,000 to $100,000. “Rabobank understands the existing off-farm income threshold can potentially limit the ability of many producers to make the most of the FMD offering,” he said. You can contact Rabobank Moree on 02 6752 9600 to talk about the FMD options available to primary producers. Rabobank is the world’s leading food and agribusiness bank, and one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest rural banks and a major provider of corporate financial services to the region’s food and agribusiness sector. For more information, please visit www.rabobank.com.au. Rabobank Farm Management Deposits (FMDs) are issued by Rabobank Australia Limited ABN 50 001 621 129 AFSL 234 700. Conditions and eligibility criteria apply to primary producers under the FMDs Scheme. The information in this article any tax related information is general in nature. You should consider the relevant Disclosure Documents along with your personal objectives, financial situation and needs and the FMDs Terms and Conditions, available at our branches, before making any financial decisions. Early termination fees apply and other fees and charges may apply.

FRIDAY AUGUST 2nd, 7pm. Entry is FREE. For every U2 and Kings of Leon there are thousands of struggling bands who never make it. Exhumed is a nationwide competition that celebrates the amateur. It’s not for one-hit wonders trying to revive their career, or young musos on their way up. It’s for those who have chosen other paths in life, but still love to play. Not has-beens, not wannabes, but never-weres. Originally created by James Valentine for his 702 ABC Sydney local radio show, Exhumed received an overwhelming response, with entries from 250 bands. “We want to applaud those who make music for the fun of it. We want to find those who play for their friends, at fundraisers, at street fairs and school fetes. We want to say, we think you’re fantastic, its great what you’re doing and don’t stop doing it…. This is not The Voice. We are not looking for a great undiscovered singer. Its not X-Factor or Idol – we are not about to create a new pop sensation. This is about recognising that there’s a lot of great, passionate, inspired music making going on purely for the love of it.” James Valentine Now it’s being expanded all around the country, including then North West, and you get to see it all first hand at The Roxy as the Regional Final is held on August 2nd at 7pm. Entry to the event is FREE! So come along and for an evening of fantastic entertainment and see the crowning of our region’s best band you’ve never heard of. For more information, contact Tracey Carr on 0427 640478 or check out the Exhumed website abc.net.au/tv/exhumed/

Joke for the Day One day the Year 1 teacher was reading the story of 'Chicken Little' to her class. She came to the part where Chicken Little warns the farmer. She read '..and Chicken Little went up to the farmer and said, 'The sky is falling!' The teacher then asked the class, 'And what do you think that farmer said?' One little girl raised her hand and said, 'I think he said: 'Holy Sh*t! A talking chicken!' The teacher was unable to teach for the next 10 minutes. THAT'S WHY WE LOVE KIDS!!!!

Recipe of the month (Found this on Facebook ) Chocolate Beer Cupcakes with Irish Whiskey Buttercream 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour gum) 1 cup stout beer ½ cup canola oil 1 cup packed brown sugar 1/3 cup cocoa powder 2T white or cider vinegar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1T pure vanilla extract ½ teaspoon salt Irish Whiskey Buttercream 1 cup shortening 2 to 5 tablespoons soy, almond, or rice milk 3 cups powdered sugar 3 to 4 tspoons Irish whiskey 1 tspn pure vanilla extract Caramel 1 cup packed brown sugar ¼ cup margarine 4 teaspoons soy, almond, or rice milk To make the Chocolate Beer Cupcakes Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 (12-cup) cupcake pans with 14 cupcake liners. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together stout, oil, vinegar, and vanilla. Pour wet mixture into dry mixture and whisk until just combined. Do not over mix. Fill the cupcake liners about two-thirds full with batter. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cupcake comes out clean with a few crumbs clinging to it. Cool the cupcakes completely before frosting To make the Irish Whiskey Buttercream Using a handheld or stand mixer, beat the shortening until smooth. With the mixer running on low, add powdered sugar, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon nondairy milk at a time, as needed, until frosting reaches a spreadable consistency. You may not need to use all of the nondairy milk. Add whiskey, 1 teaspoon at a time, until desired taste. Beat on high for 2 more minutes until light and fluffy. To make the Caramel In a small saucepan, over medium heat, heat brown sugar, margarine, and nondairy milk, stirring frequently. Once mixture comes together, increase heat to medium-high and let cook for one to two more minutes, until it begins to boil and the bubbles move into the center of the caramel. Remove from heat. To assemble the cupcakes: Frost cooled cupcakes with buttercream and dust with cocoa powder. Drizzle warm caramel over cupcakes using a fork or a squeeze tube. Caramel will be easier to work with while warm.

Happy Birthday! David Gillan, Carmen Southwell, Andrew Cooper, Melissa Frewen, Steve Power, and any other June babies!
