Parent volunteers! After-school programs require a parent
volunteer. Some of the vendor programs offer discounted registration for parent
volunteers. Volunteers will be assigned on a first-come first-served basis. YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE TO ATTEND ALL DATES IF YOU
VOLUNTEER.

We respectfully request that you register your child for only one club per session.
Crofton Woods is a large school and we want all children to be able to participate.
If we have space in the clubs, we will send out an email expanding enrollment.

Basic information is provided for each of the programs below. Please refer to the attached flyers for more detailed information and registration instructions. All clubs start at 3:45 in accordance with CWES dismissal

Board Games with Mr. Nicholas Location: Art Room Grades 4-5

EVERY OTHER FRIDAY, starting 2/8/19 $20 for new students to the club only
Limited to 20 students. This club does not require a parent volunteer, as it is run by a CWES teacher. Board Games club meets every other Friday from 2/8/19 through 5/31/19. Board games and card games encourage strategic thinking and social interaction. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Please submit PTA registration and parent/student contract forms to the Crofton Woods Office; Attention Suzanne Strong. If your child was in the first session, you do not need to pay the registration BUT WE DO NEED confirmation that the student will remain enrolled in the club. Crofton Woods Elementary School PTA
2018-19 After-School Club Policies and Procedures
Please take time to review our policies and procedures. No classes will be held on holidays or early dismissal days. Make-up days due to inclement weather will be determined per class at a later date. Please note that partial scholarships may be
available but are not guaranteed. Assistance can only be requested one time per year. A scholarship request form is included on page 9 and may be submitted with the
registration forms.
AT DISMISSAL After-school club students will be dismissed after all car riders, walkers, and bus riders. Classroom teachers will be given a list of all students participating in our program to help guide the students.
SNACK All students should bring in a light snack (pretzels, granola bar, etc.) that they can eat before the club begins. Parents must remember to pack a snack for their child. Water fountains are available if necessary.
BEHAVIOR POLICY Children are expected to behave appropriately and respectfully during all classes. Please read the attached behavior contract with your child. Please sign and return with your registration form.
PICK-UP TIME Important Policy Reminder: Parents/guardians/caregivers should meet children at the Media Center Doors to SIGN THEM OUT promptly at times specified in the catalog. This policy helps ensure the safety of our children. Late pick-ups may result in your child's removal from the program without a refund. You must park and come inside at the Media Center Doors to physically sign your child out. If your child attends Open Door, you must indicate whether you will pick up your child after the club or whether your child will return to Open Door.
VOLUNTEERS We need volunteers to help run our programs. For the classes that request parent volunteers, please indicate your availability on the registration form. Discounts may be available, but are not guaranteed.
INCLEMENT WEATHER We will follow the Anne Arundel County School Closing Policy. If school is canceled mid-way through the day we will not have clubs in the afternoon and your child will go home in the usual way. If school starts late but goes through the whole day, we will have clubs.

Crofton Woods Elementary School PTA 2019 After School Program Parent/Student Contract
The PTA offers its After School Program as a service to the Crofton Woods Elementary students and community. All instructors, teachers, and volunteers have committed time and energy into making these classes both educational and fun. The success of the program depends on each and every adult and child in the program being treated with respect in order to create an enjoyable environment for all. Any disruptive behaviors will be addressed with the child and brought to the attention of the child's parent via an email from the instructor. If the disruptive behavior continues, you will receive an email from [email protected] with a warning. Continued disruptive behavior or multiple late pick-ups will result in the child's removal from the program. If we ask you not to bring the child back to the class because of disruptive or threatening behavior, or because of multiple late pickups, you will not receive a tuition refund.
My child and I have read the above statement together and we understand that it is my child's responsibility to help maintain a positive environment through respectful and cooperative behavior.

“Mixed Media Fun” art class Grades K- 5th
This class gives students a chance to explore a wide range of media including collage,
painting, drawing, clay/sculpture and more! Students will create art in the style of
different famous artists & learn about different cultures through their art.

Crofton Woods Chess and Robotics Clubs
Chess Club is taught by experienced Silver Knights
instructors using a curriculum developed by National
Masters. Each weekly session is a mix of learning
and play. Playing chess is a great way to develop a
child’s critical thinking skills, sportsmanship, and

Board games and card games continue to increase in both quality and popularity and playing them has a wealth of benefits, including:

The CWES Game Club will play a variety of card and board games, including classics like Uno, Scrabble, and Yahtzee. Far more often, however, we will play modern games such as…

Who: 4th and 5th Graders
Time/Location: Every other Friday directly following dismissal in Art Room until 4:45 PM. This will begin February 8th and end May 31st. We do not meet on early dismissal days.
