Welcome to the 2015
Crescenta Valley High School
Instrumental Music Winter Concert.
Tonight you will hear Holiday music performed by the talented instrumental groups from Crescenta Valley High School. Jazz Band, String Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and the Falcon Marching Band, including Drum Line and Color Guard, will create a festive, musical mood to put us all in the Holiday Spirit.
Jazz Band will be wishing for snow and Santa with their performances of “Sleigh Ride” and “Santa Baby.” Wind Ensemble will play a contemporary version of “First Noel” and set the stage for “Christmas at the Circus.” String Orchestra will go to their roots and play “Dueling Jingle Strings” and “The Christmas Symphony.” Symphony Orchestra will tackle the timeless “Nutcracker Suite” and Marching Band will give their final performance of “Age of Invention” as well as a few holiday marches.
Please use this opportunity to unwind and leave everyday stresses at home so that you can appreciate and enjoy these amazing young musicians making music. When we are stressed, we need to take a break and remember that it’s important to celebrate holidays. Just turn off your smart phones and enjoy being in the present. The world will continue to spin while you enjoy the concert. I guarantee it!
So, sit back and allow us to take you to a place where you can relax, recharge, and enjoy the wonderment that only 264 talented and remarkable Crescenta Valley High School musicians can offer. I enjoy every day with these young musicians and hope that you will appreciate the time and effort we all have spent to prepare the music you will hear tonight.
Happy Holidays!
Musically yours,
Mathew Schick
