Through the decades, KRD has provided new services to our members
while keeping their hard-earned money secure.
Our focus is on the
Member and to offer affordable products and service to meet
their needs.
With your continued loyalty to the Credit
Union, you will continue
to receive higher returns on your shares and be eligible to borrow at
lower rates. We look forward to being your financial solution for the
next 70 years!
KRD was established in 1949 in a small office at the Bureau of Reclama-
tion in McCook. What started as co-workers pooling their money
together to lend to one another at lower rates has become a
full financial institu-tion with over 2,000 members.
Credit unions date back
to 1852 in Germany. America’s first credit union was founded in
1908. Today, KRD shares the not-for-profit cooperative philosophy
with more than 100 mil-
lion credit unions in the U.S. All operating on the principle of “people
helping people.”
“Grateful for the past,
preparing for the
future.”

Without the help of KRD’s generous
members and com-munity that we live
in, these 56 chil-dren in these fami-lies wouldn't have had a Merry and
Bright Christmas.
“It isn’t how much we GIVE but how much
LOVE we put into giving.”
KRD joined Family Resource Center of McCook to provide Christmas gifts for 20 families from our area! Many
thanks to our mem-bers that “adopted” a family this sea-son. It was very heartwarming to see the incredible generosity from everyone as they

Staff and families enjoyed being a part of McCook Heritage Days Parade last fall. The theme went back to the original name “German Heritage Days.” The German people embrace the values of thriftiness, hard work, and indus-triousness. Credit Unions were founded on the same princi-pals as they were developed to promote thriftiness. Your hard work goes back to you through higher dividends and lower interest rates. We are proud to serve from the smallest members and up.

Know Your Credit Score

How much you earn and how much you spend are both im-portant numbers in your fi-nancial life. But there's anoth-er number with an impact on your financial security: your credit score. Your credit score is a three-digit number lenders use to decide if you qualify for loans and credit cards. The higher your score, the better your chance of getting the best rate avail-able. Insurance companies also may use credit scores in their risk/rate calculation, and landlords may use it to decide whether or not you will be a tenant who promptly pays the rent. Your credit score is based on a formula or algorithm that is used to predict how likely it is you will make your loan or credit card payment on time. There are numerous scoring
models, but a majority of them consider your payment history, how many credit cards you use, how long you've had accounts open, the types of accounts you
have and how often you ap-ply for new credit. If you have a low credit score, it will take time to raise it. Be wary of any cred-it-repair outfits promising a quick fix. Usually, about 70 percent of your score is based on whether you pay your bills on time, so that's a

good place to start. The mod-els also take into account how much credit you use, versus your credit limit. This credit utilization ratio rewards those with low balances. Resist the
urge to open new credit card accounts, no matter how good a deal it seems at the time. Unless you are paying fees, don't close the credit card account you've had the longest. It's also a good idea to check your credit report regularly. Your credit report is a sum-
mary of your credit history and any errors on it could be affecting your score. You are entitled to a free copy from the three major credit report-ing agencies every 12 months. Order online from annualcreditreport.com, the only authorized website for free credit reports.
