Teaching Philosophy We believe children learn best in the context of relationships - relationships with each other, within their community and within the systems and rhythms of nature. Inquiry is key. Wonder invites research, questions, investigation and reflection. Children’s thoughts and questions are used as platforms for deeper thinking and learning. Teachers and parents are co-learners with the children, exploring ideas and collaborating on projects.

Setting The Wheeler House, owned by the city of South Burlington, sits on 119 acres of meadow, forest, trails and gardens. Inside the old brick farmhouse, the classrooms feature wood floors and natural lighting with windows and views all around. On the far side of the building are rock gardens, a mud kitchen, a “hay kitchen,” and trails connecting to meadows and woodlands.
