Q: How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issue?

Product that’s reflecting my project is based on interior. After going through different links and sources I started to explore that interior is something that involves a lot of creativity and time. It is the most challenging object involving colors-décor- positioning-measurements etc. It challenges many conventions referring to ceiling, flooring, walls, lighting, setting. As the main focus is on the photography I have kept the masthead of the magazine simple that is easy to read using “mermaid” font. What I’ve challenged in it is the color tone-light and dark blue shade. Color blue was chosen so that it can stand out a little and doesn't blend in with the image avoiding monotonous. Following the steps of some popular magazines I have used an image of living room as it reflects the main area of the home after the bedroom. It is mostly used by everyone and is a necessity now a days for every home.

The image setup is captured from a top interior designer’s showroom so in a way it also built an attraction for the buyers. Other than this there are very few cover lines because as I mentioned before photography is the basic element that is preferred at the first glance. Same as masthead what’s challenging in cover lines is also the color. Mostly publishers prefer to stay in one color tone whereas I’ve used different colors.

There is no such thing as puff or tag line added to the web source magazine-so this can be called another challenge added to my magazine makes it something exclusive.

Q: How does your product engage with audience and how would it would be distributed as a real media text?

My product will engage around women age 35-50 years, business men such as architects and people moving or shifting. Some today’s widely known interior designers are high inspiration added to my work list and will be going up to them and having a coverage allowing to built a relationship with the audience and make them feel being engaged about their work too.Once the magazine in compiled and finalized I will be publishing and distributing through ARCHI TIMES & ARCHITECTURE + INTERIORS(A+I). They are the only architectural publications publish from Pakistan and the only source of professional knowledge and information. Prime objective of A+I is to document the valuable work of architects and quality projects. It provided the Architects of Pakistan a chance first time in the history to share their work with other professionals, young architects and students. The production company is based in Karachi and however is popular. I’ll be contacting them as my resource for advertising my magazine

Q: How did your production skills develop throughout the project?

This project made me learn and discover a lot. Not only about a particular genre but also how and what things must be done in order to make a magazine. The most creative and productive thing in all of this is photography. It is something I always had interest but never knew that it includes of certain rules and regulations too. Knowing about various shots-angles, camera pixels, resolution and not to forget its customization-what option must be selected for a certain setting. Furthermore learning something beyond what is already done by the publishers is developed in mind. Reading others point of view and opinions helped in expanding in my thinking. Ability of writing along with a faster rate was also built within me in this project.

Q: How did you integrate technologies-Software, hardware and online- in this project?

New media is a way of organizing a cloud of technology, skills, and processes that change so quickly that it is impossible to fully define just what those tools and processes are. It is a source through which industry seeks to gain from the advantages of two-way dialogue with consumers primarily through the Internet. The Internet is a global network that keeps people connected allows excess to blogs-write suggestions and provide with the latest news from all around the world. By using different hardware's, software's I have learnt doing things differently” and not just “doing different things.” Internet is one of the thing that is used the most in this entire project. Due to the presence of internet I was able to do all the related research and evaluate relevant information. Using an internet made my work so easier by transporting myself halfway around the world by sitting at one place. I could gather all I wanted to know about my genre in different places.

Internet however also provided me with different links which were more interesting and up-to date rather then going through magazines or books. immediate response, which is something that an email permits.Other than internet I have learned and used the system of Blogging. Before joining media and going through magazine links I never knew what it is. Slowly and gradually I discovered how to use it and started to post my assignments on wordpress. For me blogging is something really interactive that makes student develops interest more and more. It includes of endless facilities-From changing the theme to font-to color-to positioning and what not. Blogging has been hugely beneficial in doing this for myself because I have seen the benefit of sitting down, writing, and reflecting on what I have learned while also learning to create an emotional connection to the information. It gives me the opportunity to learn from the comments and advice of others as well, which has helped me refine my own ideas.Last but not least Adobe Photoshop was used in this project. It is the most advance and technical software that gave my work an amazing finished look. It took me time in learning though I’m still discovering more. I preferred using this because of it can perform great functions that give wonderful results. It helped me convert photos to black and white,

resize them, create different effects, combine sophisticated techniques and many others. It allows to enhance the photos in one click. Just click play and the changes will immediately apply. It develops a feeling of working like an expert. Magical touches provided me with work as seen in samples and also saved my time. Most beneficial thing about these software's is that everything can be done sitting at home without any psychical effort and saves money too.
