Creating Personal Development Plan (PDP) Goals Personal development goals are intended to develop an associate’s skills and abilities to improve their current performance and help them develop towards potential future roles. There are two options to record PDP goals – create new goals or copy goals from a previous year. This document focuses on creating new goals. Note: The current year’s LPP/JOT form does not need to be completed to record goals for the next year.

1. Select Goal Setting from the drop-down menu in the upper left.

2. Select 20xx PDP.

3. Click +Add New from upper right.

4. Select Create a New Goal.

5. When creating new goals, there are two options. Select either Create Your Own Goal to create a custom goal or Create from Library Goal to select goals from a library with suggested success measures.

If creating from a library goal:

a. Review the categories. Click the icon or hyperlink text of the category name to expand it.

b. Once you locate the goal, select the check mark box next to the desired goal.

c. Click Add Selected Goal.

d. The goal information will populate.

6. Enter or update the following as appropriate:

• Visibility - PDP Goals will default to private. Private goals are only visible to the associate and their direct and indirect managers. Setting the visibility to public will make the Development Objective visible to all associates in the LPP tool. (Note: when set to “Public”, only the information entered in the Development Objective field is made visible to all associates in the LPP tool.)

• Development Objective – This section should summarize the goal you wish to achieve

• Success Measure(s) (optional, but recommended)

• Status (optional, but helpful for Managers to view progress)

• Development Action(s) - Indicate specific steps to

take to achieve the goal.

o Select the “+” button to add Development Actions related to your goal.

o Select the trash can icon to remove a Development Action.

7. Note: For assistance with the Spell Check and Legal Scan features, refer to the Goal Setting Additional Features: Spell Check and Legal Scan document under Help & Tutorials > Goal Setting.

8. Click Save Changes.

9. Click Edit to modify or update the status of a goal that has already been created.

Note: Once you create a goal in your goal plan, you can cascade it to your direct reports.
