• There are a few different ways to do this• One way is to just type the URL or Web address as a

bullet and then press the Enter key• When you want to go to that Web site, you click on

the hyperlink• Note: hyperlinks only work in slide show they do not

work in normal or slide view• The hyperlink shown below will bring you to the

Disney Web site– www.disney.com

How Do I: Create a Descriptive Hyperlink to a Web Site?

• You can create a descriptive hyperlink from text that describes the Web site

• Type the desired text description as a bullet

• Select the text and then click on the Insert tab on the Ribbon and click on the hyperlink icon

• The Insert Hyperlink Dialog Box will display

• Type the URL for Disney World in the Dialog Box Address

• The URL is www.disney.com• Disney World Enter www.disney.com

in the Address box

How Do I: Create a Hyperlink From an Object to a Web Site?

• You can create a hyperlink from an object or a shape such as clipart

• Insert the desired object to your slide

• Select the object then click on the Insert tab on the Ribbon and click on the hyperlink icon

• The Insert Hyperlink Dialog Box will display

• Type the URL for desired Web site in the Dialog Box Address

• We want to link this object to the Disney World Web site

• The URL is www.disney.com

Creating a Hyperlink to a Video• You can search the Web for various videos related to your topic• If you find a video, you can past the link to your PowerPoint presentation

by selecting the URL and right clicking your mouse and selecting copy.• Return to your PowerPoint presentation and then click on Paste and pres

the Enter key to display the hyperlink• The link below is to a video regarding the wrong way to interview

– http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K08AiYDVDZc&feature=popular• This a link to an Animal video about funny cats

– http://www.break.com/index/dumb-cat-cant-figure-out-how-to-drink.html• While this procedure is okay, it is better to create descriptive or graphic

hyperlinks– See next slide

Creating a Descriptive Hyperlink to a Web Site Without Needing to Type the URL

• This a link to an Animal video about funny cats– http://www.break.com/index/dumb-cat-cant-figure-out-how-to-drink.html

• Instead of having this large URL in your presentation you want an image of cat to display for the hyperlink– The above URL would be a lot of work to type into the hyperlink dialog box– Instead, we will let the computer take care of entering the URL for us– Insert your image of the cat to the slide– Click on the link for Insert Hyperlink

• The hyperlink dialog box will display

– Go to the Web site containing the video and click on the URL– Return to your PowerPoint presentation and the URL will be displayed in

the dialog box– Note: another option is to copy and paste the URL to the hyperlink dialog

box
