Hey Mom! I Can Cook! (TS) I never thought I would become a chef, but my college experience changed my mind. (Beginning) When I became a freshman in college, I moved into an apartment with some friends. I wanted to live in the dormitory where I wouldn’t have to cook my meals, but they accepted the applications on a first-come-first-served basis, and my friends and I handed in our application too late. As a result, we had to live in an apartment where we had to learn to cook in order to survive. Our first week as college students was a difficult one. We ate fast food and junk food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I got so sick! . . .
Narrator: Randall never thought he would become a chef, but his college experience changed his mind. He took no interest in cooking growing up and he remembers requests from his mother to have him help in the kitchen. Mom: Honey, come and help me make lunch now.Chef Randall: Sorry mom, I can’t stop this video game right now because it’s my best score ever. Mom: Honey, can you come and help me make dinner? Chef Randall: Sorry mom, I have so much homework to do right now. Narrator: When Randall became a freshman in college, he moved into an apartment with some friends. It was fun! The students had a good time. It’s funny (the story). Learning to write dialogue. Using the sounds. Using audacity. It’s interesting. Working and interacting together in a
group. Creating stories as a group.
What did the students like most?
Understanding the group’s English. Working on it after class time and as a
group. There wasn’t enough time to work on it!
What did they like least?
Audacity New words, talking and thinking in English Computer Skills To make questions, sentences, and grammar How to write a radio drama How to write a narrative What a main idea is Pronunciation (through listening to own voice)
