Creating a custom Metanet

This tutorial explains about creating a custom Metanet in HR Module of SA using T!"ode

HR#$RMS%M&TA'ATA!

MetaNet: The Meta(et is a )ie* of printable data inthe SA System! It co)ers all data sources in Human Resources that are a)ailable for the form creationprocess! The Meta(et is pro)ided by SA or can be created and represents a directory from *hich youcan select data to be printed in forms! The Meta(et contains the follo*ing ob+ects represented in ahierarchy

1. MetaStar

2. Meta'imension

3. Meta#ield

4. Meta#igure

MetaStar: A )ie* of data that can be read from a specific data source in the SA R-. System!

MetaDimension: "omplete description of a business ob+ect or concept!

MetaField: Items of information in a Meta'imension! &ach Meta#ield is part of the /ey that completelyspecifies the Meta'imension, or it is an attribute, an additional characteristic of a Meta'imension!

MetaFigure: A /ey figure! If the /ey figure is lin/ed to a unit, this unit is also part of the Meta#igure!

When we require custom MetaNet SA pro)ides SA%'&#A01T 2SA standard Meta(et3 *hich contains allpossible data of SA standard HR master data, personnel time data, and payroll results! If there is any ne*infotype created or any data re4uired in the output from any ne* custom infotype then a ne* node must becreated into the Meta(et! 5e create a ne* custom Meta(et and calls SA pro)ided Meta(et into that and thenadd ne* node based on re4uirement!

Here, in our case all payroll results are stored into a custom infotype! 'ata form the custom infotype can not bepopulated using standard SA Meta(et! Therefore, I ha)e created a custom Meta(et and added ane* node for custom infotype! The complete steps are *ritten belo* in details!Transaction for creation of custom Meta(et HR#$RMS%M&TA'ATA



Step 01 7i)e the "ustom Meta(et name and "hoose "ountry then clic/ on "reate button! #or example

Step 02 In the maintenance screen of the Meta(et, *e see there are three columns in left side

Meta#igures, Meta'imensions, MetaStars and in the right side *or/ place for Meta(et!

Step 03 If there is any field that has reference table for the currency- 8uantity field then a custom Meta#iguremust be created under Meta#igure column for that field! "lic/ on the create button of the Meta#igure columnand gi)e a custom Meta#igure name starting *ith Z9 and description! #or all such type of fields corresponding

Meta#igures must be created!

Step 04 'etails of the Metafigure crated under step ;. must be mapped *ith the unit that can be doneon the right hand side bottom of the screen! Reference table name and field must be maintained here!emem!er Field name must !e unique "or each MetaFigure# i!e! if there are fi)e 4uantities fields in theMeta#igures then all fields name for the 0nit must be different *here as #ield Type may be same! Field$%pe "or the MetaFigure must !e same as data element o" the corresponding "ield&

If field has cumulate )alues then chec/ the chec/ box of cumulate <alues!



Step 0' If any table need to add into the Meta(et then a custom Meta'imension must be created! "lic/on the create button of the Meta'imension column, gi)e Meta'imension name starting *ith =Z> anddescription!

Step 0( &ach field must be created under the Meta'imension, including /ey fields that *ill be used for fetching data and the fields that need to populate into the output! Those fields are called Meta#ields!Right clic/ on the custom Meta'imension choose create field!

Similarly create all Meta#ields!

Step 0) Mapping of the Meta'imension must be done after creation of all Metafields! After +ust clic/ingon the Meta'imension on the right hand side bottom of the screen mapping can be done!

In the first tab Meta'imension gi)e the table name form *hich data need to populate!



$n the Meta#ields tab map the table fields *ith the Metafields! #or identifying /ey fields and attributes +ustdouble clic/ on the first column!

Here Is the example first three fields B&7'A, &(''A &R(R are /ey fields that *ill be used for fetching data, *here as rest all fields are attribute!

Step 0* "reate a ne* MetaStar, clic/ on the create button of the MetaStar column! 7i)e the customMetaStar name starting *ith =Z> and description!

Cust drag and drop all Meta#igures Meta'imensions form the Meta#igures and Meta'imensions

column to the custom MetaStar!

Step 0+ 5hen all re4uired Meta#igures Meta'imensions are inserted under then custom MetaStar then map the fields, on the right hand side of the screen! In the first MetaStar gi)e type as Master 'ata Infotype name!



7o to tab Meta#ields, then map Metafields 2here only Dey Meta#ields *ill be displayed3 *ith the infotypefields!

7o to tab Meta#igures and Map Metafigure *ith the fields of Infotype and also the unit field of theinfotype!



Step 10 #inally clic/ on the *or/ place of the Meta(et , Information about the Meta(et *ill display at thebottom of the *indo*! 7i)e the details as sho*n in the screen shot!

Step 11 Cust drag and drop custom metaStar form the metaStar column to meta(et *or/place!





Step 12 Sa)e and exit form the Meta(et! This custom Meta(et 2 Z"0ST$MM&TA(&T3 can be used inHR #orms!
