What happens to them at the factory?

Stage 1: fine sand is mixed in a machine with chemicals, this will help make the sand melt faster. Stage 2: the sand that has been mixed with chemicals is fired inside a furnace until it melts. It is now molten glass. Stage 3: molten glass is taken out of the furnace and moulded into glass products.
