Employment History

Production Operator 2014- 2016Chevron Corporation

Responsible for daily monitoring and maintenance of 450 wells. Wrote work permits, JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis), Completed safety scopes to ensure all LO/TO (Lock Out/ Tag Out), and SOP’s were followed. Led tailgate meetings with contractor to identify error traps and any safety gaps in project execution plan.

Lead the production team in development of a SOP to understand the effects of soak time on wells in different geological zones for a savings of $150k. Wells were continually being put on production under the recommended soak time of 6hr’s; therefore, increasing the risk of critical failures, maintence costs, and spills. The SOP gave our team a standard procedure on timing, well section procedures and costs.

Reduced steam leak failures. Handled over 200,000bbl of steam per day. Reduced mineral waste by 28% or 56,000bbl of steam. Identified critical leaks, fixed leaks and recorded steam savings of $23K.

Utilize SRod and RODSTAR to identify correct size pumping unit, rod-string, motor size and SPM (strokes per minute) for new and existing wells and coordinate new unit installs & swaps.Use beam analysis workbench in LOWIS to identify possible down-hole problems and create routine well work tickets to schedule next available rig.

Worked collaboratively with engineers to identify poor performing wells during cold seasons. Identified wells that had no insulation and implemented D7i requests to have insulation installed. This increased production, decreased maintenance costs on cold plugs and decreased downtime.

Trained new hires in Production Group on proper execution of SOP’s, educated operators on operations processes. Included cyclic steaming wells, hot shots, and cold oil steams, troubleshooting AWTs, cut out valve inspections, L4 audits and injection and TO wells.

Led work group for submitting quality BBS’s (Safety Sheets). Submitted at least 4 BBS’s/month. Before joining the production group our BBS submissions were at 0. Leading by example and encouraging coworkers Production became 100% compliant.

Initiated lean sigma projects and performed basic research internally and externally then prepared a compilation of documents, charts, reports, and other materials based on my findings. I then would communicate my discoveries with peers inside and outside of the department to increase efficiency and create new SOP’s

Used Excel and Access to extract information from LOWIS to populate various reports and perform analysis and present recommendations to Managers and the Engineering team.

Plant Operator 2010-2014Occidental Petroleum

Responsible for daily maintenance and troubleshooting of 30 compressors tasked to keep field pressures low and downtime to a minimum; therefore, decreasing 3rd party maintenance costs and increases gas processing. Mitigated safety risks by permitting trenching/excavation, hot work and verifying all safety measures where actively followed.

Worked independently on a rotating schedule to drive production. Effectively created relationships that optimized work performance. Developed lessons learned with skilled staff to increase my skillset, which allowed better maintenance to compressors and a decrease in maintenance costs to a 3rd party contractor.

Diagnosed compressor failures and executed preventive maintenance procedures daily that included: cylinder problems, air compressor failures, lube pumps; verify oil, water, and compressor temperatures.

Participated in RCA’s (Root Cause Analysis) with HES functional group to identify a catastrophic failure. Identified potential hazards and implemented processes to mitigate that risk. Each job permitted must perform environmental and regulatory checks before job commencement.

Executed general maintenance on compressors. Replaced suction and discharge valves, check valves, pressure regulators, lube and water pumps and monitored fluid levels.

Performed preventive maintenance and minor repairs on all required plant equipment and effectively monitored plant equipment and made adjustments to processes and controls.

Performed lab tests such as cooling tower and R/O unit water tests and SRU chemical tests. DOT Certified Created PFD and P&ID using Microsoft Visio.

Substitute Teacher 2009-2010Taft City School District

Responsible for daily instruction of 25 students and the development of core competencies in the classroom environment. Conducted state tests and education requirements.

Sales Associate 2006-2008Wavelengths SBI

Responsible for coordinated sales promotions and sponsorships. Led and organized an effective team for product placement and implemented a sales forecast platform for inventory and sales.

Technician 2005-2006Taft College Multimedia

Responsible for end user PC setup and installation. Performed data entry and installation for new students. Diagnosed network and desktop level 1-support glitches.

Behavioral StrengthsSoft Skills

Established trust with key personnel that enabled production teams to drive business results . Relationships empower effective communication and candid solutions to barriers – we all speak the same Oil and Gas language.

Reshaped functional leadership’s perception of Production team by developing trust, rapport, stakeholder buy-in and holding each group accountable to timelines. Transformed Production SOP’s from a required process step into a business enabler.

Persistently seeking out opportunities for best practices sharing and encouraging enterprise collaboration. Developed production and business alignment that has created cross-functional trust that was not present before.

Relationships have created outside the box resolution to previous barriers. Constantly striving to set new standards in processes that will have an overarching effect on costs, timelines and people
