MESSAGE DU PRÉSIDENT, ACHP BIENVENIDA DEL PRESIDENTE DE LA ASOCIACIÓN CANADIENSE DE SALUD PÚBLICA

Fellow Public Health Workers: Never before has a President of your

Association had the pleasure of ex- tending a welcome to those attending the Annual Meeting when it has been held in a Province other than his own. It is my good fortune, on this unique occasion, to welcome you to the Province of Nova Scotia, specifically to the City of Halifax.

The bringing together of public health workers from across Canada and from around the world represents another "first" for this year's meeting.

Fortunately these departures from tradition do not extend to all things. We can count on the warmest of welcomes and the most generous hospitality -

longstanding Nova Scotian traditions. It is my pleasure to invite you to join a

fine people, in their lovely land! As they say, "Ciad Mile Failte".

bienvenue dans cette belle ville de Nouvelle-Écosse qu'est Halifax.

Le rassemblement des travailleurs de la santé publique de partout au Canada et du monde entier représente aussi une "grande première" pour notre réunion de cette année.

Mais dans d'autres domaines, les traditions restent, se cultivent, s'affer- missent mais ne changent pas: je veux parler ici de la qualité de l'accueil, de la

chaleur de l'hospitalité et du sentiment de bon-vivre qui sont la caractéristique des Néo-Écossais.

J'ai le plaisir de vous inviter à vous joindre à cette population remarquable qui vit dans un paysage pittoresque, changeant et pourtant si reposant. Comme ils le disent eux-mêmes "Ciad Mile Failte".

Colegas en el campo de la salud pública: Esta es la primera vez que nuestra

Asociación celebra su Congreso Anual en una provincia en la que el Presidente no reside. En esta ocasión tengo el gran placer de extenderles la bienvenida a la Provincia de Nova Scotia, y especifi- camente, a la Ciudad de Halifax.

Este Congreso Anual también marca la primera vez que se reúnen traba- jadores en el campo de la salud pública, no sólo de Canadá sino del mundo entero.

Afortunadamente, estos cambios a la tradición no se extienden a la calurosa bienvenida y generosa hospitalidad, tradiciones bien conocidas de Nova Scotia.

Es con placer que les invito a visitar esta maravillosa gente en su tierra tan hermosa. Como dicen ellos, "Ciad mile failte", un million de bienvenidas.
