Certification Exam

The American Academy of Professional Coders is the certifying body and is responsible for the

contents of the exam, the administration and grading of the exam and the awarding of certification

status. The cost of taking the certification exam is part of the all-inclusive course fee.

Neither the AAPC, the instructor, nor CODE, LLC make any type of guarantee of certification to the

student. This review course is an OPPORTUNITY for the student to become a certified professional

coder through the AAPC and as such, final certification status will be decided by the AAPC.

Two letters of recommendation addressing a student’s qualifications related to coding experience,

professional demeanor and work ethic are required. College instructors, colleagues, physicians or

supervisors may submit letters. It is suggested that these letters come from different sources. This is a

qualification requirement required by the AAPC, not the instructor or CODE, LLC, and must be

submitted along with your exam application to the AAPC.

If the student is unsuccessful at passing the CPC exam, he/she may retake the CPC exam within one

year of sitting for the exam at no additional charge.
