Sandford Orchards approached SWMAS regarding funding against a new Canning Line for their range of Ciders, as a result of the recent Lockdown and unprecedented increase in demand:
“With the closure of pubs we weren't sure if we would even be able to stay open at all. But we have been bowled over by the response from our customers to our online store. Sales have soared to 1800% of levels last year - and the first things to sell were our cans. We realised that we needed to invest in our own machine so that we could pack our own products, and offer the service to other local drink producers. Cans are light, and transport really efficiently - this grant made a difficult decision easy, it will create jobs and build the local resilience of supply for ourselves and many other producers. Thank you SWMAS for your swift and professional service”
Barny Butterfield, Sandford Orchards

CLICK HERE to visit the below webpage
Top TipsGetting to work:
• Request each employee to consider opportunities to limit social
interaction and infection risk whilst travelling to work.
Visitors:
• Review how you manage visitors e.g. window hatch for delivery
drivers, a portaloo for drivers. Please remember to treat drivers with
respect.
• Consider removing and disposing of delivery packaging followed by
hand washingswmas.co.uk | 01278 767 010 | [email protected]
Top Tips: Management• Management team to consider whether each activity is vital for the business to
continue to operate, and where working from home is possible (e.g. admin or
sales functions)
• Collate a list of vulnerable employees or employees with vulnerable relatives
• Team Leader briefings on return to work, repeat government advice on when to self-isolate
• Remind colleagues daily to only come into work if they are well and no one in their household is self-isolating
• Regular Management walk round/audit to check measures are being adhered to and
resolve problems identified/understand employee concerns
• Covid-19 Notice board with a nominated Covid-19 employee responsible for keeping and disseminating up to date info from Government Website

Top Tips: Hygiene• Reduce touch points e.g. Keep internal doors open where possible (excluding fire doors)
• Signage reminding employees of the guidelines e.g. wash hands with soap and water
for at least 20 seconds when arriving for work and at the beginning and end of every
break
• Review cleaning routines e.g. antibacterial wipes for start/stop buttons on forklifts or
similar, to clean steering wheels, keyboards and phones, ensuring soap dispensers are
topped up. Hand sanitiser at strategic locations
• Consider supplying PPE - Example gloves and masks if appropriate and disposal.
• Consider changing methods E.g. a contactless card machine to avoid handling money in
canteen or paper towels to dry cups rather than a tea towel
Top Tips: Social Distancing• Visual Management - tape on floors to designate 2m gap in appropriate areas (as
per supermarket) – Example: taping up every other wash basin
• Consider lay out of office desks/production areas to ensure distance between
employees. Staff should work side by side or facing away from each other rather
than face-to-face if possible. Example: remove alternate or facing chairs in the
canteen
• Limit social interaction, maybe look at areas staff congregate like clocking in/out to
see if there are viable alternatives
• Split shifts mean fewer people in the workspace making social distancing easier
• Staggered breaksswmas.co.uk | 01278 767 010 | [email protected]
