The Tynewater Neighbourhood

Plan - Recruiting Now

This has now been finalised and produced with our grateful

thanks for the help of Derek Welsh and Lynne Tait of Midlothi-

an Council. You have a hard copy, but it can also be accessed

on the Midlothian Council Website or the link on the Cousland

village web site.

Now it is important for the action plans to be processed and

monitored so that what people wanted to happen, happens.

Already the expansion of the ring and go service request has

been acted upon by

Karl Vanters, Midlothian travel team.

What is now needed is for a few interested folk from each vil-

lage or anywhere in the Tynewater area to get involved and

go to the Tynewater Community Council meetings to progress

the actions.

The Tynewater Community Council meets about every six

weeks check dates for your diary for the next meeting

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Thanks so much to everyone who came along to support

the Macmillan Coffee Morning on the 25th September.

Lots of tea and cake, soup and bread was consumed and

everyone was very generous with their donations. We

raised a huge £850 which is fantastic for this worthy

charity.

A massive thanks to the team...Robin, Sheena, Helen,

Claire, Veronica, Jennifer and David. Without their skills

and time this event wouldn't happen. Ann Louise sold

some stationery, and Sean, our village blacksmith,

showed us his great work. To all who popped their

heads into the kitchen to help, and got involved in mak-

ing it a profitable day, thanks. Carol

SAD NEWS

It is with great sadness we have learnt the news of the

death of two long standing village residents,

Bob Bell of Hadfast Road and

Peter Grant also of Hadfast Road

Our thoughts are with their families

Doors Open Day 2015 We welcomed 100 visitors to the Smiddy & Heritage Hub

on the 12th September and had a

wonderful response from everyone who came to see the

results of the re-furbishment project so far. The Heritage

Hub displays were very popular and everyone enjoyed

watching Sean work at the forge. Teas etc. were very

popular and we raised much needed funds from all the

donations.

Many thanks go again to our volunteers for helping out

on the day and preparing the venue

beforehand. And clearing up!

The smiddy website www.couslandsmiddy.co.uk will

soon be advertising dates of a programme of future

open days. Meanwhile we are happy to welcome

booked groups.

Cousland Community Broadband

There was a good response at the Community Cafe when

Stobonet attended to give information on the Wireless oppor-

tunities for the Cousland area, in addition to the commercial

Wireless Service now being offered by Lothian Broadband.

With the support of Stobonet, we have five users connected

so far, via Antennas located at the village hall and another at

the top of Hillside. Those five are having success in receiving

strong connections at last. We are still looking to identify fur-

ther sites to expand the coverage, however, our work com-

mitments don't allow us as much time to pursue this as we

would like.

Thanks to all who expressed interest, we will reach you as

soon as we can.

DOG NEWS

There is nothing more embarrassing than when your dog

won't stop barking.

Midlothian Council have a specific person who can help dog

owners who are maybe finding it difficult to control their

dog's noise.

Paul Rice who works with Midlothian Council can visit and

advise with various devices and techniques to help to train

and reassure your pet.

He is happy to be contacted on 0131 271 3342

C.R.A.P.S.

A meet the Brewers was held in the Hall of Friday even-

ing 9th October. Daniel Lumsden and Andy McKay of

Cousland and Alexander Brown of Fordel Park Farm sup-

plied a number of Ales for sampling. We were offered

Brown Ale, Pale Ale, I.P.A.s and Wheat Beer. Micro

Brewing is growing and perhaps we have one in the

Cousland Area soon.

A big THANKS to Ken Carnie for arranging a different

kind of CRAPS .
