Happy Diwali Dear Parents and Carers As you know, we close the school next week for our half term holiday. I hope you and your children have a lovely holiday. I was delighted to see so many parents at Parents Evening this week, we had 95% of our parents in school meeting with their child’s teacher; if you have not yet been into school for an appointment please can I ask that you do contact the school immediately after the holiday so that we can meet with you to discuss your child’s progress. Helping others Thank you to all the children who donated money for Jeans for Genes day, I am delighted to say that we raised over £400! We have asked children to send in contributions towards the ‘shoebox’ appeal .....this appeal provides Christmas presents for children in the UK and abroad who would otherwise not get a present at christmas! We have asked children to bring in any of the following: a toy, a book, a notepad, felt pens, crayons, toothbrush, flannel, comb, gloves, scarf, hat.... Please help if you can.....we want to send away as many shoeboxes as we can to support this appeal. Diwali This week we celebrated Diwali in school and class 6 Oak told the story in assembly. The rest of the school enjoyed their dancing and acting! Year 2 visit to Warwick Castle Last Friday Y2 enjoyed a fun packed day at Warwick Castle, the children learnt a great deal whilst they were there and will be holding their very own banquet in school today to end this half terms theme! Applications for Secondary Schools and Data Sheets If your child is due to go to secondary school in September 2012 your application needs to be in by 31st October to the City Council, the school can no longer accept them. Please can you ensure that you have updated your child’s data sheet so that we have all up to date contact details on file so that if we need to contact someone in relation to your child we can do so. I hope that you all have a very happy holiday. School re-opens on Monday 31st October at 8.45am. Friday 21st October 2011 ‘Doing our best to be our best’ Courthouse Green News
