Introduction There are many kinds of interviews, including, one to one interview, group interview,
behavioural meetings, telephone and video interviews, second interviews, and even
interviews held during dinner which is called business dinner. On the 20th of May, 2017 BAPCO
put a job advertisement in the Gulf Daily news about assistant manager training programme
for logistics and other majors. As a result, I made a C.V and a cover letter which are related to
the training programme and applied for the position. After one week I did my interview which
was held on 27th of May and the interviewer was MR Tom O’Rouke, he asked me different
questions about my major, skills, experience and my values.
Component 1 The different types of CVs available are functional, Chronological and combined. One the most
popular type of CV is the Chronological CV, it starts by listing the applicants experience or the
work history, with the recent lob listed first. This type of CV is considered to be the most
common type of resume structures, because it focuses on the recent work experience. More
over in this type of CVs a brief personal statement of the employee is included. This brief
personal statement sets out the strengths and skills of the employee. This type of CVs is
suitable for job seekers who have a strong working history. Another type of CVs is the
functional resume, this type of CVs focus on both the candidate skills and experience, rather
than stating the chronology work history. This type of CVs is suitable for employee who are
changing their career frequently and for fresh graduates, who have no working history. The
last type of CV is the combined CV, this type of CV starts with the functional CV and ends with
the organizations of work history by dates. During the class we practiced writing CVs and cover
letters with Ms. Laura, also during the program of Injaz, they showed the class some examples
of the previous CVs, and the mistakes that most employees do in their CV and cover letter.
The type of CV that I used is functional CV because it focus on the skills rather than the work
history, because I am still a student and I don’t have any previous work history.
During the previous classes, Ms. Laura gave us some examples of the major and popular
interview questions and also she listed some of the major mistakes that is typically done
during the interview. For example Ms. Laure advised us that, if the interviewer asked “what
are your weakness?” the right answer is to say “I am working on improving myself”. All this
information and advices from Ms. Laura helped me a lot during my interview. For example
during the interview, Mr. Tom asked me “how can you benefit BAPCO?” I answered him that
I have all the skills and qualifications that could help me to improve the quality of work at

BAPCO. Due to the Ms. Laura instructions and advices during the class I was able to answer
this type of questions. There are many challenges that faced me before and during the
interview, first challenge the faced me before the interview that I couldn’t know which type
of CV will be suitable for me , but after doing some researches on the internet, I found that
the suitable CV for me is the functional CV , because I don’t have much work experience.
Moreover I wasn’t sure that my CV presents me well. On the other hand during the interview
I faced many challenges such as I was so nervous during the interview, because I was worried
I won’t be able to answer the interviewer questions. One of the mistakes that was made
during the interview, is when Mr. Tom asked “what is your weakness?” I said that I have some
issues in managing my time. However this wasn’t the correct or expected answer for this type
of questions. In addition in my CV I didn’t grade my skills for example I must mention in my
CV that I have excellent leadership skills, rather than writing I have the leadership skills. After
the interview, I asked the interviewer to give a feedback about my interview, he said that I
have a good eyes contact and I look confident. Moreover Mr. Tom mentioned that my CV is
well organized.
Component 2 In this section I will connect the simulated interview that was held at Bahrain polytechnic with
real events in my life. From one month ago I made an interview with BAS (Bahrain airport
services), the first question was asked to talk about myself, I gave a brief description about
myself , regarding my age , qualifications , skills, education level and my aim. Connected with
the interview held in polytechnic, the first Question that was asked is to talk about myself and
I answered the same to the both interviews. The second question that I was asked by the
interviewer of the BAS (Bahrain Airport Services), if I have all the skills and the qualifications
required for this job?, I mentioned all my skills regarding the communication skills, leader ship
skills etc. Compared with the interview held at Bahrain polytechnic, I was asked the same
question but I was having much time to answer it briefly. On the other hand one of the
mistakes that I made is during the Interview of the BAS company, the interviewer asked me if
I am still studying or not? I answered him that I will be able to manage my time between my
work and studies, then the interviewer of the BAS company said that in the advertisement
made for the job it was mentioned that we don’t prefer students for this type of jobs . As a
result I couldn’t get my job because I haven’t read the advertisement in detail. Compared to
the interview held at Bahrain polytechnic, I read the advertisement of the job carefully before
writing my CV and cover letter. There are some differences between the both interviews, in

the interview held at Bahrain polytechnic By Mr. Tom, I was asked many questions and the
duration of the interview was long. Compared with the interview held at BAS company the
interview was short and specific questions was asked.
Component 3 During the classes Ms. Laura showed us a video in the class, regarding an employer, who made
many mistakes during his interview and as a result, he couldn’t get the job. This video points
out the difference between what was expected from David to response during the interview
and what he actually did during the interview. Connected to the video that was seen during
the class and my interview. For example in the video when the interviewer asked David “what
are your good qualities?” He said that “I am just a regular person, who lives very simple life
and in a small town”, related to my interview when I was asked a similar question, I told Mr.
Tom that I totally confident that I will be the best and suitable candidate for this job. On the
other hand there are two similarities between the interview and video. For example in the
video, when David was asked by the interviewer “what is your weakness?” he said all his
weakness. Compared with my interview at Bahrain polytechnic, I said my weakness without
mentioning that I am working on improving them.
Conclusion:- To conclude I gained many experiences from the interview and writing CVs and cover letters.
First of all during the class time I have watched many videos, that points out the mistakes
that happen during the interview. Moreover I practiced writing CVs and cover letters in
professional way with Ms. Laura. I learned many new things about myself for example
during the interview held at Bahrain polytechnic, Mr. Tom mentioned that I have a good eye
contact and I look confident. The things that I have learned during the course that I must
know how to present my skills and qualifications in a professional way. In future if I applied
for a job I must choose the suitable format for the CV. More over the qualifications and skills
mentioned in the CV must be similar to qualifications mentioned in the advertisement of the
job. Also by connecting the interview with the events happened in my life helped me a lot to
observe and compare the mistakes and improvements that was done in the both interviews.
All the skills and experiences gained from the course Market your self will help me a lot in
the future career.
