Competition• Promote the survey to final year students on your course e.g. using

social media, emails and lecture shout outs and flyers

• You can’t force someone to take part in the survey and you cannot influence their response

• Winners based on the following:• % students in that department filling out the survey• Overall number of responses that department gets• Campaigning effort the final year course reps in that department put in as a

group.

• Each final year course rep in the winning department will receive a £10 Highcross voucher

• An award celebrating good teaching

• Students will nominate academics and say why they should win– This is done online at www.surveymonkey.com

• The campaign will run from 12th March to 30th March (end of term)

Deadline for submission- 30th March (end of spring term)

• Record and submit anything you do that you feel contributes to your effectiveness as a course rep

• Your record can be in any format you like e.g. an online blog, a word document, hand written

• You must include evidence e.g. photos, references etc

Task• In groups, list the obstacles (barriers and restrictions) which prevent you from managing time successfully .

• Move round – try to list solutions to the obstacles listed by the previous group.

• Move round in a circle giving the solutions suggested by the previous groups a mark out of 10 – don’t mark your own solutions!

Breaking up time • Identify fixed commitments (e.g. meetings, deadlines)

• Can you break down any large tasks into smaller, more-manageable steps?

• Decide on the best time for each task/step

• Don’t let everything pile up, look at the big picture and leave enough time to complete a task
