Record Attendance At IMTS 2016

Carr Lane Manufacturing Sees Great Response To New Products

T his year was a milestone for IMTS (International Manufacturing Trade Show) as it welcomed the largest number of exhibitor’s in the show’s history and over

115,000 registered attendees. Carr Lane Manufacturing was there and debuted several new products at the show. “We were really pleased with the strong attendance at this year’s show and those

who added us to their scheduled stops,” commented Chief Operating Officer Colin Frost. “IMTS has always been a very strong show for us, but this year it surpassed even our expectations.” IMTS will return in 2018, September 10-15, again at McCormick Center in Chicago. And you can bet Carr Lane Manufacturing will be there!

In addition to launch-ing its 2017 edition product catalog, Carr Lane also debuted the new products shown at right.

A Message From Carr Lane Manufacturing President Alan Frost

A t about 5:30 p.m. on December 10, 1914, Thomas Edison, the founder of General Electric Co., calmly watched a

fire destroy his laboratory complex in West Orange, NJ. He encouraged his son Charles to bring his mother to

see the fire, saying, “She’ll never see another fire like this one!” When Charles reacted in surprise, Edison

responded, “We have just burned up a lot of rubbish.” The next day Edison and employees set to work

rebuilding a bigger and better facility.

Thomas Edison had a strong response to any kind of

setback. When asked if he was discouraged about his

ability to develop a workable light bulb, he replied past

attempts weren’t failures, they were just approaches

that did not work.

We have all faced situations that didn’t work out the

way we hoped or intended. Shortly after the startup

that was to become Carr Lane Manufacturing Co., a

short circuit in a welder burned down the garage at the

founders’ home, destroying all product and equipment.

All of us need to avoid the trap of continuing to do the same old thing out of habit or inertia. We need to step back, at

least figuratively, “burn the rubbish,” and move forward with new ideas, approaches, and technology.

Leadership Changes Announced At IMTS

CEO Nance Frost Shares Future Plans At Luncheon For Distributors

A t a special luncheon for its distributors, held on Thursday, September 15, as part of IMTS week, Carr Lane Manufacturing CEO Nance Frost announced two important leadership changes

that have now been implemented at the company. In her prepared remarks, she shared, “In the past five years, we have assembled a very strong employee base with talented, experienced managers to help lead us into the next phase of Carr Lane Manufacturing.” Following this came the announcement that Alan Frost will retire as President sometime late in 2017. Also announced was the promotion of Chief Business Development Officer and Chief Manufacturing Officer Colin Frost to the position of Chief Operating Officer, effective October 3, 2016. In her remarks about Alan Frost’s retirement, Nance Frost noted, “Alan has been a part of Carr Lane for the past

42 years. He has been involved with system integrations, machine upgrades, safety enhancements, and overall product and process improvements over these past four decades and has seen Carr Lane evolve into the business it is today. The

company owes a large debt of gratitude to Alan for his insights, knowledge, and commitment to making Carr Lane the very best it can be for our customers.” Colin has been with Carr Lane Manufacturing since 2006, first joining the company as a regional sales manager. He transitioned from that role into supervising all regional sales managers and the role of Special Projects Manager in 2011. In this capacity, Colin was responsible for the coordination and implementation of a new ERP system for the company, and enhanced functionality of the company’s corporate website and online catalog. In 2013, he was promoted to Chief Business Development Officer and in 2015, he took on the added responsibilities of Chief Manufacturing Officer. In these roles, he has provided guidance over improved production capabilities at the St. Louis and Austin locations as well as new product development decisions. “Carr Lane Manufacturing’s goal has always been finding ways to better serve our customers with quality work holding products – products our customers have come to expect over the last 64 years,” Nance Frost concluded during her remarks at the IMTS luncheon, “But we also know that to stay competitive in this changing world, we need to bring our customers new products that offer innovative solutions to the demands of manufacturing in the 21st century.”

effective September 1, 2016, Carr Lane Manufacturing will no longer create Quotes for Special Plug Gages. We will honor all current quotes until they expire. We will also be phasing out the sale of in stock stand-ard Plug Gages beginning September 1, 2016. Sales of Plug Gages will continue as long as we have inventory available. Once that inventory is sold we will no longer offer that item. We will continue to sell Handles, Bushings, UT, STD, and CTS items for the foreseeable future.
