Who was the Very First Full Timer of

Couples for Christ?

We all assume that the very first full-timer of Couples for Christ is Frank Padilla. But, we are all wrong. The very first one to take the plunge to do Mission-ary work 24/7 was RAUL SARCEDA. Who is he? Where is he? Let’s have him answer those himself:

“I worked full time for Couples for Christ as a response to God's invitation to me (and my wife) to serve Him more fully. Before we got married, we already had the desire of serving the Lord, particularly for couples and families. So when the opportu-nity and the need arose in Cou-ples for Christ for a full-time worker, we accepted the invita-tion with open heart and faith in the Lord.

We had many memorable expe-riences, but the exciting thing was the openness of the mem-bers to serve the Lord in what-

ever capacity, the generosity of the couples to share of their gifts whether financial, time or gifts, and the genuine transfor-mation of the life of members.

Right now we are preparing ourselves to move to Malay-balay (in the province of Bukid-non in the Philippines - ed.) to continue the mission God has called us to fulfill. We will be part of the Ang Buhing Pulong Community there, a community

we helped set up in the late 80's.”

Straight from Raul. The picture above is of the Sarcedas.

Now we have more than fifty (50) full-timers spread out all over the world. And we want more. Are you one of them?

First Countries with CFC

1. Philippines (1981)

2. India (1985) 3. China (HK) (1986) 4. Singapore (1987) 5. USA (1987) 6. United Kingdom (1988) 7. Australia (1988) 8. Thailand (1989) 9. Indonesia (1990) 10. Canada (1992)

HOW DID THEY START?Last January, we saw how

CFC Philippines started with the first 16 couples. Let’s take a look at how another country started.

China (Hong Kong)

! CFC Hong Kong was established in 1986. The pro-ponent of CFC HK was a cap-tain of Cathy Pacific, Brian Potter and his wife Judy, members of a charismatic group since 1980. When they attended a charismatic semi-nar in Bagiuo, they were able to contact Couples For Christ and started CFC HK in July 7, 1986.

The first CFC HK household was almost purely Caucasian, the only Asian was one of the wives, who was a Filipina.
