The Agua Fria Monument is nearing
completion. Community volunteers
spent two weekends in August mud-
ding the wall.
The monument project originated out
of the Community Planning process in
the Village of Agua Fria around
2002. In 2011 Santa Fe County
collaborated with the National Park
Service National Historic Trails Office
and the Village of Agua Fria to
develop conceptual design for the
monuments.
Morrow, Reardon, Wilkinson, Miller
(MRWM ) was hired to design the
monuments, they completed the
design in 2012. At Commissioner
Chavez’s request Santa Fe County
staff began exploring ways to work
with the Village of Agua Fria to build
the monument instead of hiring a
construction contractor. Cornerstones
was brought on to coordinate
construction of the monument on the
east end of the village.
Photographs of community volunteers working on the monument are courtesy of the Lois and William Mee.

The New Mexico Foundation for Open Government, FOG released an audit of city and county websites, which evaluates whether the public can easily find important government information online. Santa Fe County took home the top score for counties across the state. Using objective criteria, the FOG audit examined the websites of 31 New Mexico cities and 27 of the 33 New Mexico counties and assigned scores in seven categories - financial data, accountability data, public meetings information, contact information, public records information, website functionality and other frequently sought information. The audit was conducted in February and March 2015 and updated in July 2015. During that 4-5 month period, a number of cities and counties improved their scores by posting additional information.

(JPA) is a two week summer
program that is dedicated to
exposing the children of
Santa Fe to the strictness of
becoming a real police officer. The Academy is open to all Santa Fe
students that are between the ages of 10 and 15. The Junior Police
Academy is designed for students to show the training and preparation
that goes into the making of a new Police Officer.
The JPA provides participants with meaningful challenges so that the
experience is a positive building block for understanding of policing techniques, police policy and procedure, lead-
