ANNOUNCESITS ENDORSEMENTS IN SEPTEMBERS
PRIMARY ELECTIONS
Today, the Bronx Democratic County Committee announced its
endorsements in the upcoming Democratic primary in September.Assemblyman Carl Heastie, Chairman of the Bronx Democratic Party said,
This borough and this organization has come a long way in such a short
time, and none of it would have possible without the steadfast leadership ofour Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. The leaders of the Bronx
enthusiastically expressed their support for Ruben, and we are all looking
forward to another 4 strong years of rebuilding and revitalization. We
heartily endorse a favorite son, Ruben Diaz Jr. for re-election.
The organization is supporting former ComptrollerWilliam Thompson for
Mayor, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer for New York CityComptroller and Councilwoman Letitia James for Public Advocate.
We are more than proud to announce our support for a group of individuals
that we know will do an exceptional job for the residents of the Bronx, and
the City as a whole. They are proven leaders who have already distinguishedthemselves in the public sphere, said Chairman Carl Heastie. Bill
Thompson has an exceptional record of service. As a Deputy BoroughPresident, President of the Board of Education and New York City
Comptroller, he has led with the skill and vision that befits a Mayor. The
City will be in very capable hands under his stewardship. Borough President
Scott Stringer, from the time he was appointed as the youngest member of acommunity board ever, has exemplified the qualities we would want to see in
a Comptroller. In the span of his career, he has tackled a myriad of complex
issues mirroring the diverse responsibilities of the office of Comptroller. Weare also announcing our support for Letitia James, who will continue her
passionate service in the role of Public Advocate. We believe the City willbe in good hands, added Heastie.
Candidate for Mayor Bill Thompson added, I'm running for Mayor to move
every community in New York City forward - and the support of the Bronx
Democratic Committee will help me do just that. Bronx Democrats know Iwill fight for the progressive values that unite us. I will improve public

and keep our families safe from gun violence. I'll reform Stop and Frisk sothat being black or Latino isnt cause for harassment. And I will work day
and night to create the good-paying jobs that lift up our communities. I'mproud to have the support of these Bronx leaders and to work with them to
move our city forward.

Im proud to earn the support of the Bronx County Democrats. Thisendorsement sends a powerful message that Democrats are ready for a Public
Advocate who will move our city forward, together, said Councilwoman
Tish James. As a City Councilwoman, Ive fought for the values we share:better jobs for men and women in every borough, access to quality healthcare
and education, and social and economic justice for all. Ill bring the same
values and passion to the Office of the Public Advocate.
