Report 5 3-2-73
Stopped at Lantry to visit with Marion McDaniels freeholding member of the Oil and Gas Board but he was not in town.
Stopped at the Investors #7 Holloway location along laghay 212 west of Lantry and talked to Mr. Harry Morton, pumpman from Kimble, Nebraska. Observations and topics of discussion were as follows:
1. Morton and his crew tare just trying to free the stuck bottom,. hole pump, said the water was so corosive that grale hod built up and was keeping the pump tight. This was over a period of about 3 months. Morton said the last tine the pump had been waking was towards the end of November. I scouted the location on Monday, November 20, 1972 at which time they were just getting the pump rigged up.
2. Morton said that Investors is still planning tc use the fl Uallace Cook, MESW 32-13N-22E, for disrosal of brine from the P7 Holloway operations. I told him at the action of the board relative to prohibiting the cmpany from disposing the water into the Madison, he said that he had nct been informed by Osborn of this development and seemed to be slightly upset, altheugh he did say that"we'll probably just go ahead and dispose of it in the #2 WA-flare Cook hiRceeee it wasn't any good either".
3. Morton said that in are:lazing, the situation he doubted if Investors ever had plans for developing a real oil field in this area. He is quite sure that Osborn was sold a bill of goods by Shurley but of course Osborn did profit financially from the venture, too.
4. !kirton told me that the U.S. Covernment had attached 2 rigs for Republic Supply Company, Box 1995, Oklahcma City, Oklahoma 73101, to whom Investors owes a fairly sizeable amount cf money. The 2 pieces of equipment attached were a work-over rig (the one sitting at the #7 location) and a Lufkin(Parkersburg-type) 640 well pump. Both pieces of equipment have signs scotch-taped to than which read: "Property of the U.S.Covernment by order of U.S. Marshall" I took several Poloraid pictures of each for documentation. Morton also said that the drilling equipment st-acked at the #2 Baxter location in Perkins County had also been seized. I drove to this locality south of Usta and found that the gate that furnishes normal access to the location was chained and
padlocked. I also found that a gate a mile north and another gate a mile south of this access were also chained and padlocked so from this Morton is probably right that the equipment has certainly been confiscated.
S
5. raton said that about $3000.00 worth of equipment including a blow -out preventor, had been stolen from the #1 Fed Pird loc-ation where the Transwest rotary drilling rig has hem stacked for over a year.
6. Morton told me that Osborn owes him in the neighborhood of $2,000, and owes Butane Gas Company in Eagle Butte about $1800, and cues the Tribal. Telephone Company at Eagle Butte about $2100.

the consulting petrolemzienineer, from Linings, !lantana. 4!.atkins said
he Lamed to supervise all completion engineering in field from now on;
he said he was working directly under Osborn.
Uatkins said the plenums to perform an adaquate pumping test on 4
to 6 of the best wells on a one.at.a.time basis and hoped that we would
go along because quite a lot of time would be involved. The work will
start with the #1 Little Qkunk well. A 630 air-balance bonehead pumping
unit (Parkersburg typo) with 144-inch stroke vela being installed at time
of visit. Watkins said the r, thud used would be to ptrp the 11 until a
static fluid level was established and then by evaluating the pumping
dlta and based an oil-water ratios a decision would be ale whether to
continue to produce the veil. In the event that it is decided to produce
the well, a permanent rurp installation t:ould he built. The 630 Parkersburg

Dear Doctor McGregor:
Yesterday we mailed to Miss Alma Larson, Secretary of State, two copies of the following information:
DST charts for:
Investors #1 Holloway Investors #1 Cowan 2 7 Holloway 3 "
We do not have anything in our files on a #2 DST for Investors #1 Eulberg, but we did do formation wire line testing on some of the structures in this well. This is recorded on a log and I will see that a couple of copies are mailed to your office.
We also mailed Miss Larson Form 7 sheets for Investors #1 State and Investors #1 Eulberg.
Copies of the core analysis for Investors #1 Mary Cook, Investors #1 Wallace Cook, Investors #2 Wallace Cook, and Investors #1 Brooks were also mailed.
According to the data on these analysis sheets these wells were cored at the following intervals:
Mary Cook #1 5030 to 5057 Shale 5057 to 5079 Limestone
Wallace Cook #1 5020 to 5075 Red River
Wallace Cook #2 5010 to 5067 Red River
Homer Brooks #1 5070 to 5127 5127 to 5186 Red River
oS41
In the Northern Rocky Mountain Region
Doctor McGregor
Page 2
If I remember correctly, a big share of the first Brooks #1 core was not recovered. Also we do go in coring high so as to make sure we hit the top of the Red River. In these cases where we core the Stony Mountain or shale we have not analysed them all because of the expense factor. A 60 foot section has been running us about $1500.
I have spoken with Miss Voelker, American Stratagraphic Company, in Billings and upon checking their records she found that they have received samples for our #1 State, in section 11, 12 North, 22 East. She further stated that a cut of these samples was shipped to the South Dakota Geological Survey this spring.
On speaking with Hal Shurley today he mentioned that he also had phoned Amstrat and they also mentioned that these cuts were shipped to your office but when Mr. Shurley told them they were never received the checked and found they had not been sent as yet. The last word I have on this is that they are to get the samples our to you and write you a letter to verify the fact.
I believe we have the emulsion problem solved. We feel the emulsion may be forming in the downhole Kobe pump. At any rate, we have shipped clean pipeline grade oil this week and I will have the engineer give you a complete report.
Ve truly yours,
