When to Keep KidsHome from School
Its school time againalong withschool supplies, homework, andcooler weather, comes the cold and useason. Here are a ew tips on what to
look out or when deciding to keep yourchild home rom school:
Fever: When your childs ever is 100.4 degrees or higher, yourchild should stay home. Most schools would like children to be
ever ree or 24 hours with no ever reducing medication beorereturning to school.
Cough and Cold: Children who have cold symptoms withoutever are probably okay to go to school.
Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis): Look or redness, itching or swelling,
and a clear, white, yellow or greenish liquid to collect in one orboth eyes. Pink eye can be highly contagious. Your child shouldbe seen by their primary care doctor beore returning to school.
Stomach Flu (Gastroenteritis): I your child seems dehydrated(shows excessive thirst, dry mouth, extreme atigue or lethargy),has vomiting, or diarrhea, its a good idea or them to stay home
rom school.
Sore roat: Consult your childs pediatrician i the sore throatis accompanied by diculty swallowing or breathing, pus or red
and white patches in the throat, swollen or tender lymph nodes inthe neck, or i the sore throat lasts longer than one week.
Ear Infection (Otis media): A child complaining o ear pain
should be seen by their pediatrician in order to provide treatmentrecommendations. I your child cannot talk, look or signs oear inection like ear pulling, irritability, ear drainage, balance
diculties and trouble sleeping.
Rashes: Keep your child home rom school and consult theirpediatrician i your child has a rash and any o the ollowing: joint
pain, ever, sore throat, small red dots that cannot be elt when
touched and do not ade when pressed, bruises that are non-injury related, the rash lasts more than one week.
Encourage and remind your child to wash his or her handsrequently to prevent getting or spreading illness. Allow yourchild to return to school once symptoms have been absent or at
least 24 hours without the aid o medication. Lastly, consider yourchilds ability to interact with peers and pay attention in class.Even i a child is recovering rom an illness and is technically wellenough to go to school, it may be in his or her best interest to stay
home and ully recuperate.

Like tendrils on a grapevine, wine shops are a naturallyconnected outgrowth o any region where vineyards and
wineries dot the landscape.
Tats true here in the wine-producing emecula Valley where
local, mostly amily-run wine stores oer a charming blendo good times, wine tastings and wine knowledge along with
retail purchases o the ruit o the vine. And just like there arevarieties o wine, the shops oer their own unique avors to theart o selling the stu o viniculture.
Temecula House of WinesA yesteryear ambience mingles with palate-pleasing winesrom the valleys vineyards at emecula House o Wines, located in the historic 1920s-era Palomar Inn Hotel in Old
own emecula.
Owner o both the hotel and wine shop in the hotels convertedlobby, Carlos Palma experienced an epiphany when he saw aneed to sell emecula Valley wines under one roo.
I love the emecula Valleys wines, said Palma, and one
evening about six years ago, I was enjoying a glass o local wine, and I suddenly got the idea about how great it would be to havea one-stop shopping place where the wines produced by the
valleys wineries could be sold instead o having to travel out to
each winery or its own particular wine.
Shortly thereaer, Palmas idea became reality, and today heestimates that 95% o his inventory is produced by emeculaValley vintners, including dessert wines and much-soughtaer wines rom the regions boutique wineries which are no
open to the public. Palma also acts as a mini visitors center or
the wineries, he said, because he keeps Wine Country ino onhand as well as directing visitors at his shop to various wineries

Tere are no wine snobs at Wine on a Dime! says MichelleOur big thing here is customer service, and we want to be ableto teach people that there are $10 and $15 bottles o wine thatare as good as wines that cost $30, $40, and $50.
Former owners o a popular delicatessen in emecula, theCampinis saw a niche or selling good wine that peoplecould buy at aordable prices without having to go to the

Weve been in business or ten years, said Atwood, who can

With his background as a winemaker, Atwood says hat hespassionate or all things wine, and Te Wine Company stocksmore than 600 wines varieties rom nine dierent countriesHors d oeuvres are available to pair with the wine o your

But despite its long tenure and big selection o higher endharder-to-get wines, said Atwood, Te Wine Company oers

Dudleys Wine & GiftsIts a casual atmosphere at Dudleys Wine & Gis in Murrieta, and owners Eric and Christina Dudley preer it that way.
We want our customers to come in and be as casual as theywant, said the Brooklyn-born Eric Dudley. We want them tohave un, and be in a place where they dont have worry about
how they pronounce the name o a wine.
Part o the un at the swirl and sni routine at Dudleys, said Eric, is the background music o reggae and rock, having
customers introduce themselves to each other, and doing toastsevery night. Dudley, a certifed wine specialist, can also spinsome entertaining and inormative stories about the history othe wines on the racks at the shop.
Te only wine store o its kind in Murrieta, Dudleys Wine &Gis opened three years ago, and oers wines rom around the

Theres just something so resh about going or a spin in aconvertible. Call it a un adventure. Call it ree-ying. Callit cheaper than therapy. Or maybe you just have to call it
experience thats hard describe to anyone who doesnt see the
charm o a wind-whipped hairdo and dusty car upholstery.
Whatever you call it, Americans have had a crush on theconvertible since the last centurys early days o motoring. And i you are one o those millions who gets starry-eyed overthe beloved ragtop, then you need to set your GPS or the siteo the countrys greatest collection o American convertibles, located just a short drive south o the emecula Valley.
Nestled on feen acres o terraced grapevines adjacent to theLawrence Welk Resort in Escondido, the Deer Park Wineryand Auto Museum showcases a stunning and remarkablearray o 130 gleaming and mint-condition vehicles including
every important American convertible manuactured rom1946 (and earlier) to the muscle cars o 1980s.
Te museum was ounded in 1979 by real estate entrepreneurRobert Knapp to house his ever-growing collection o vintagecars, according to his son Clark Knapp.
My dad just loved American convertibles, said Clark, whohas reopened the three buildings o Deer Park museum to thepublic in 2009 aer it had been closed or a number o yearsollowing his athers death in 1996.
He loved the look o them and the stylish, amboyant designwhich just grabbed peoples attention, he said. Te cars werebold and beautiulthey were works o art. Not like the boxyshapes o cars today.
Starting with a 1928 Ford Model A Ford Sports Coupe whichhe acquired or $23 in the early 1950s, Robert Knapp beganamassing his collection decades beore the Internet, oenfnding cars or a song by browsing through magazines. Overthe years, Knapp picked up small and nimble convertibles likethe 1949 Crosley Hotshot Roadster as well as big, ast and tail-fnned cruise boats like the 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz.
Tere are also some very unique autos at the museumincluding a 1903 Buick horseless carriage, a rare 1928Franklin Airman (amous or having the only successuair-cooled engine to remain in continuous production) and
a Kaiser Darrin, a 1954 vehicle that was the frst car to usefberglass in the body. Also on display is one o engineer, carmaker and television marketing pioneer Madman Muntzsunique 1952 Jet cars which eatured seats upholstered inalligator skins and backseat armrests containing ull cocktaibars!
But the crme de la crme o the Deer Park collection andworth every bit o the admission ee alone, said Clark

In the tide pool world, its all about fnding a oothold andhanging or dear lie.It may look like an undisturbed utopia rom the outside, but
when the extreme low tides occur, some o the smallest andsimplest creatures at the edge o Neptunes kingdom suddenly
have to contend with exposure to either a hot sun or reezingwinds while being constantly battered by unrelenting waves. On top o that, they have to worry about being the next happy
meal or their neighbor!
Despite such epic battles, marine lie does miraculously thrivein tide pools, delighting anyone who hopes to touch a starfsh
or watch hermit crabs duke it out over an abandoned shell oreven gets lucky enough to see a shy octopus.
Tere are a ew beaches in San Diego County where rocky reesappear when tidal conditions are right, and just about an hoursdrive rom emecula Valley is the coastline o La Jolla which ishome to some o the most must-see tide pools.
Te Casa Beach, or otherwise known as Childrens Pool, is asmall, picturesque beach located at the corner o Coast Blvd.and Jenner Street in La Jolla. Partially protected by a seawall,
the beach has a wealth o mussels, crabs and fsh in its tidepools. During much o the year, seals and sea lions are also
present on or near the beach and a reserve or these marinemammals, called Seal Rock, is just oshore.
A short walk to the north o Childrens Pool is Shell Beach
which is at the south end o Ellen Browning Scripps Parkon Coast Blvd. and Girard Avenue. Tere is a small cemen
stairway rom the park leading directly to the airly largeShell Beach tide pool area which teems with the likes oanemones, barnacles, limpets, crabs, urchins, sea stars, snails
and sea cucumbers during extreme low tide. During the wintermonths, it is also possible to fnd a variety o shells there due tothe beachs unique geographic layout.
A third and impressive tide pool section can be ound abouttwo hundred yards to the north o the Scripps Pier and La JollaShores. Dike Rock ide Pool includes an area flled with cobble-
sized rocks, boulders, mud, sandstone and algae-coveredats. Part o the La Jolla Underwater Park marine reservethe site gets its name rom a volcanic bench o rock that haspushed through a large gap in the sedimentary rocks and runs
perpendicular to the beach. Parking is usually available alongLa Jolla Shores Drive, the La Jolla Shores Beach parking lot ornear Scripps Institute o Oceanography where there are twostaircases just south o the pier leading down to the beach.

I you mention zip-lining to anyone locally, Ive noticed thatmost o them think o Catalina, or the Wild Animal Park inSan Diego. Did you know there is a place not ar up the 15 reeway
where you can experience this adrenaline-pumping adventureactivity? I ound out or mysel not long ago. Skull Canyon Eco-Experiences in Corona, open since Fall o 2009, oers two zip-
lining courses that range rom easy to hair-raising. Family-ownedand -operated, Skull Canyon oers a truly unique experience.
I arrived at the property and was greeted by several people,
including Yvette, the Event Coordinator in a way that mademe eel very comortable and as i I had walked into a
group o riends. Aer some preliminary instructions, Iwas buckled into my harness and given my trolley - the
trolley is the piece o equipment you carry with you
throughout the course, which hangs on the cable andallows you to zip! Given the instruction, Do NO
drop this! - I was very careul with it, and didnt! On went the helmet and gloves (provided) and
then a un photo in ront o the parks banner.Next was a bunny zip - short and low to the
ground or practice purposes. I was ready!
We all climbed into a big yellow beastknown as Monster Crawler - a 1967 Land
Rover Saari Wagon with 53-inch tires, usually only on-site on the weekends - andwhen I say climbed, I mean climbed!
And we were on our way. I was taken onthe scenic tour as we climbed to a slightly
higher elevation when we stopped at amost unexpected sight - a
Koi pond. Te property onwhich the park is located
was once a chickenarm, and the open-
air tank is part o
the antique irrigation system. Te water is now used to irrigate themany palm trees that are stored on the property and are or saleAer eeding the Koi (and the random Bluegill) we began a ten-
minute hike up the hill. Lead our Guide Paul Davidson pointedout several highlights along the way, including a sighting o a coollocal lizard, as well as a cave that taps into a natural spring, eeding
the irrigation system at a rate o fve gallons per minute. My otherGuide, Isabel, and Demi - who was in training (we did our frszip-line together) - were a couple o un girls who helped shapemy experience.
A great conversationalist, Paul kept us laughing as we headed tothe frst zip-line station. Te Original Course consists o seven zip-lines that meet each other as you zigzag down the hillside. Finish
one, unhook, short walk, and hook back up to the next line. What
I have a hard time deciding how to put into words is the actuaexperience. I was never rightened (especially aer I heard that a
bunch o girl scouts had done the course a ew days earlier). I guessthe best descriptor would be exhilarating. Te longest zip-line onthe Original Course is 660 eet, and it was awesome. I let go o myharness and hung backwards ... wow. But I wasnt done!
Aer completing the original course, which took about an hourand a hal including training and hiking, Yvette said, Oh but youHAVE to do X3! Whats X3, you say? Tat would be the third o
the three EXREME lines in the park, totaling 4400 eet o zip-lines. X3 is 1600 eet by itsel, with almost 60 seconds o zip timePure, healthy, oxygen-inused rush. I was told that several groups
o bachelors en route to Vegas have stopped o at Skull Canyonsimply to run X3 on the way.
Anyone ages fve and up, or 60-250 pounds can zip-line at Skul
Canyon. Tey are open seven days a week, and reservations arerequired. Groups o up to 30 can be accommodated. Te teamo people at the park make the experience un and memorableI you are looking or something exhilarating and just plain cool
you have to check it out! www.skullcanyon.com

our TOWN
Summer is here again in the emecula Valley, and you knowwhat that meansits water park season! So i youre eeling hot and bothered by Mr. Suns scorching rays,
its time to chill out and hit the giant water slides, wave motionpools and misting cabanas available at some o the water parks inand around the valleys landlocked locales.
VAIL LAKE RESORTProbably the great-granddaddy o water slides in Caliornia canbe ound at Vail Lake Resort, just a ew miles east o emecula.Created in the 1970s or a recreational vehicle park in operation
at the time, the resorts three water slides were recently upgradedin 2007 to provide aster, smoother and twist-ier thrills.
Our water slides were built in 1974, said Bill Johnson, whobought the park, lake and campground amenities in 1997 andgave the site its present name. Im pretty sure that they were thefrst public water slides built in Caliornia!
Te 325-oot slides which twist and turn down an easy slopehad been closed since 1986 so when Johnson decided to reopenthem, he called upon their original builder, water park designer
Richard Croul, to help bring everything up to date.
Originally the slides were concrete so we repaired them andresuraced them with about an inch and a hal o oamthe
same stu thats in ootball helmets, explained Johnson, andthen we sprayed polyurethane on them so they are really slick, and ra rides can get really ast.
Johnson said plans are in the works at Vail Lake Resort or awhole new down down hill experience with a mile-and-a-hal-long water slide which will descend 600 eet down a nearby
mountain, dropping sliding enthusiasts into Vail Lake.
Hours and ees or the Vail Lake Resort water slides are: Fri. 2-6PM, $10/hr; Sat. 10 AM-6 PM, $10/hr or all day pass $20; Sun. 9
AM-2 PM, $10/hr. Hal day passes or Friday and Saturday onlyare $15. Visit www.vaillakeresort.com/activities/swimming-pools-and-waterslides.html or more ino.
MULLIGAN FAMILY FUN CENTERWATER PARKTe newest water park in the valley has been scheduled to open
this summer at Mulligan Family Fun Center in Murrieta.
Were the only water park in Murrieta, said Scott Agajanian,
Mulligans group sales manager, and with the weather heregetting as hot as it does throughout the summer months and
early all, we think the area needs a water park. We believe it wilbe a big hit here!
Construction plans to convert hal o the un centers seven acres
into a Western-themed water park are expected to take placein three phases over the next fve years. Tis summers much-anticipated Phase One will consist o fve speed slides, multilevel platorms, interactive aquatic controls and what is being
called a Big Splash Pumping Station.
Located at 24950 Madison Avenue in Murrieta, Mulligan Family
Fun Center was opened in 1996, and eatures popular activitieslike miniature gol, go-cart racing, and laser tag. I Phase One othe water park proves to be as popular as Mulligan Fun Centerocials expect, uture attractions could include more extreme
water rides and a lazy river.
A day pass or unlimited use at the park will be $20.99 per
person, said Agajanian.

T
o think they used to say that women couldnt rock!! When
I frst started in American radio at the beginning o the1980s, there was a consensus o opinion that you should neverplay two emale artists back to back on the air as that would cause
the listeners to tune out. Songs by women just arent strongenough to be played one aer another, the program directorswere told by the radio consultants. At this point I should jumpin and let you know the ocial defnition (or at least my ocial
defnition) o a radio consultant. Its someone who borrowsyour watch to tell you what time it is. In other words these sel-proessed experts were bringing nothing new to the table, just
their own opinion. And because o that FM radio suered (andstill does). Fortunately, the artists themselves werent listeningto the consultants so-called expertise and instead just wentahead and made music, and rom the end o the seventies
through the eighties and into today we have seen an explosiono great emale artists.
As the punk scene exploded and began to tear down therestrictions that traditional radio and record companies hadimposed, women took that opportunity to power onto thescene and in a short period o two years, in America alone, a
number o important bands ronted by emale rockers emerged
that radio could no longer ignore. Tese included Martha Davis
& Te Motels, Debbie Harry & Blondie, Pat Benatar, ChrissyHynde & Te Pretenders, erri Nunn & Berlin and Dale Bozzio& Missing Persons. Within months, their music was all over
the airwaves o new wave stations like KROQ and 91X andtheir videos were played around the clock on that brand newcable channel MV. All o a sudden those expert consultanthad to rethink their position on women making music.
Now two o those great emale rockers are coming to emeculato show audiences once again how they were and still are
able to make such great, powerul and un music.
On August 20th, Missing Persons, ronted by the legendaryDale Bozzio, comes to Monte De Oro or a close and persona
concert. Missing Persons, in addition to all their hits: MentaHopscotch, Destination Unknown, I Like Boys, Words,Give and Walking In LA have a storied history. It was none
other than Frank Zappa who helped put the band togetherand get them a recording contract. As lead singer Dale Bozziosays, When Frank Zappa calls and says you should be makingrecords you dont argue with him. In Franks studio the bands
talent became quickly apparent; rom Dales singing through

to errys incredible drumming and Warrens virtuoso guitar
playing (he actually became a member o Duran Duran orover a decade) the band was ready to explode onto the scene. And thats exactly what they did, making hit aer hit includingtopping KROQs year end countdown in 1981 with their #1
smash Mental Hopscotch. Onstage it was Dales striking goodlooks (she was a ormer Playboy bunny) and outrageous outftsthat caught the crowds attention. oday she is oen considered
as a major inuence on the way Lady Gaga dresses. I youwerent ortunate enough to have caught Missing Personsground breaking live shows back in the day at the HollywoodPalladium, New Yorks Roseland Ballroom, Perkins Palace
in Pasadena or in ront o 250,000 people at the US Festivalthen now is your chance to see them live when Dale Bozziobrings all the hits to Monte De Oro on August 20th. And iMissing Persons alone werent enough, also on the same bill
is the un party band that scored with a number o inectiouschart toppers back in the 80s that are still played today on theradio and eatured in numerous movies and commercials, Te
Romantics. So dont miss that great double bill and be preparedto sing along with alking In Your Sleep and dance withWhat I Like About You. Itll be a un night o great music!
On September 23rd , just over a month aer Missing Personsand Te Romantics rock the emecula Valley, Wiens FamilyCellars presents a great 80s estival roll that also eatures acharismatic and oh-so-inuential emale perormer, Martha
Davis o Te Motels. Martha is one o the great singer/songwriters o our time and virtually took up residence onthe national charts with her singles and albums rom the late
70s through the 1980s. Her songs such as otal Control,
Danger, Only Te Lonely, Mission o Mercy, ake the L(Out o Lover), Remember Te Nights and Suddenly LastSummer have become classics. Ive known Martha or many
years and she never ceases to amaze me with her music andonstage presence. Plus, she is always writing - sometimes evenin her sleep!! She told me that Suddenly Last Summer cameto her in a dream the whole song, melody and all!!! As soon
as she woke up she jotted it down because she thought itmight be something. Tats an understatement. Suddenly LastSummer went on to become one o the most played love songs
o the decade. Its a track that never ails to get the audiencesinging along when Martha perorms it in concert.
Its not just Te Motels playing at the 80s Festival at Wiens. Also
on the bill are the always un Naked Eyes rom Bath, England.Front man Pete Byrne loves to play all o their hits live andoen jumps o the stage and comes down into the audience
to serenade his ans with his voice and guitar. Many times, though, hes drowned out by the crowd singing back to himbecause they know all the words o his songs so well, hits likeAlways Something Tere o Remind Me, When Te Lights
Go Out and Promises, Promises which actually eatured
a young singer rom New York on backing vocals - her name?
Madonna!
Te estival also eatures the charismatic Michael Aston andhis band Gene Loves Jezebel. GLJ brings the rock side to the
80s estival with driving dance hits like Desire (Come & GetIt), Gorgeous, Heartache, Jealous and Te Motion OLove. Michaels energy on stage recalls Jim Morrison o Te
Doors as he gets the audience involved with his music, and upand dancing to the beat. When he talks on the microphone histrong Welsh accent makes him sound like a younger, better-looking om Jones.
Tis show is a must or all the ans o great 80s music. Ill bethere also, DJing and playing songs between the bands andintroducing all three o the great acts as they hit the stage
I you used to listen to me on KROQ or tune in today to myshow on Sirius XMs First Wave Ch 33, then you know whaa un concert this is going to be. Now when you think o
the emecula Valley youll know that its not just fne wineamazing weather and world-class gol but also a terrifcdestination or some o the biggest bands to have come ouo the 80s. A great concert under the stars eaturing all your
avorite music, what could be better?
Richard Blade can be heard every day on Sirius XMsFirst Wave Ch 33. Richard is also available or private parties and

around the HOUSE
Control unwanted oliage to keep your lawn looking beautiulIm not entirely sure how it came to pass, but it would
seem that having a lush, green lawn says something about a
homeowner and his or her castle. Admit it, at some point intime, you have had lawn envy! Surely youve driven past a
neighbors home, wondering how they got their grass to look sogood. Is it some special seed blend? A secret ertilizing plan? While the neighbors may have a ew tricks up their sleeves, thatcant stop you rom getting a lawn that is deep green, lush andlong-lasting. But, to do this, youll have to get rid o those pesky
weeds.
Weeds really detract rom the look o the lawn, but thereshope i you treat them properly. First, give the lawn a good
raking and pull out any dead patches or excess build up othatch. reat your lawn with Ortho Weed-B-Gone Lawn WeedKiller (Ace no. 7102908 or 1-pint concentrate). Tis product
will eliminate many o the most common problem weeds, including clover, chickweed, oxalis and itll even do a prettygood job on ol Creeping Charlie or ground ivy (these are thesame thing). Tis product is rain-resistant in just hours and it
wont harm the lawn.
Keep in mind, you will get alittle grass kill by using the
Weed-B-Gone, but once theweeds are taken care o, youcan loosen up the soil and
reseed the area. Ten watchyour lawn thicken up andlook great!
Oen times, really tough weeds get into the cracks in sidewalks, driveways and patios. I you need to tackle these and there is nosurrounding vegetation (like grass you want to keep or a owerbed), its best to use a total vegetation killer such as Round-
Up Season Long Grass & Weed Killer (Ace no. 7136104 or a1.33-gallon ready-to-use container). Many Ace stores are alsocarrying a new product called Concern (Ace no. 7116320 or a
32-ounce spray bottle), a ast-acting non-selective weed killer
that uses a soap blend to kill nearly all weeds in just hours.Whats more, Concern targets plant tissues and doesnt movethrough the soil, so nearby vegetation is pretty sae. You can
replant aer about two days.
Important tip: All o the aorementioned products should beused with caution. Be sure you read all labels, adhere to all
applicable saety precautions and use the products as they areintended to be used.
Once youve got your lawn weed issue under control, start upyour our-step ertilization plan and bring your lawn to lieBeore long, the neighbors will be wondering how you do it!

legal EASE
BACK TO SCHOOL
WHERE?
As summer ends, I am oen aced with two divorcedparents who cannot agree on which school to send theirchild. Te typical debate is in regard to which school district.Other times the question is whether or not the child should
attend private school and, i so, who should pay the tuition.Generally, courts will not interere with a parents decisionto send children to public school, private school, parochial
school, etc. or, instead, to provide home schooling. However, when two divorced parents cannot agree on which schooltheir children should attend, the Court has the discretion tostep in and make a decision. In Caliornia, the right to select
a childs school is one o the rights included in the bundleo rights called legal custody. In other words, the parent,or parents, who have legal custody make the decision. In
Caliornia, there is a presumption that legal custody will be joint that is, shared by both parents and both will have asay in which school a child goes to. Tis presumption can beovercome, or example, i one parent can show that domestic
abuse has occurred, or i one parent can show that joint legalcustody is not in the best interests o the child. However, mosto the time, legal custody is awarded jointly to both parents.
Assuming your child goes to private school, who pays the
tuition? Adding tuition or private schooling as additionachild support is discretionary. Courts can be receptive to sucha request, especially i the child was already attending privateschool or otherwise has special education needs. However
the key issue is whether the order is consistent with a parentsability to pay i not, then the proponent o private schoocould fnd themselves ooting the bill. As a practical matte
or many amilies, there simply is not enough money to enableboth parties and their children to continue at the maritastandard o living post-divorce, and nonessential privateschooling may have to be sacrifced. Tere are specifc actors
that most courts will look or when deciding this issue and youare strongly encouraged to seek legal advice i you are acedwith this circumstance.

what is called a minus low tide.
ides are the alternating rise and all o the sea level due tothe gravitational pull o the moon and the sun. Many actors
inuence the tides, but there are basically two high and lowtides a day. During the peak summer months, low tide occursduring the night on San Diegos beaches, and the minus tidesduring daylight hours dont occur until the all and winter,
usually beginning in October.
Te best time to visit the tide pools is when minus tides occur
very low tides that are below the average. A 1.0-oot tide orlower is okay, but you will have a better chance o seeing moremarine plants and animals when the tide is minus.
Its important to remember that while tide pools are wonderuldiscovery zones, they are also ragile ecosystems, and its best toollow some simple rules o conservation:
