Rationale for Countries and Citizens project
• ESDS provides two types of data:– Aggregate (or macro) data - aggregated to a country
or regional level. – Survey (or micro) data - data about individuals.
• Aims of project were to:– Raise awareness of International data
• Promote increased and more effective use of survey and aggregate data in comparative research
– Understand linkages between the data• Increase awareness of the methodological, statistical and
technical issues associated with combining survey and aggregate data
