    till 1965 many troops were there till 1973 peace symbols sit-ins, peaceful protest Haight and Ashbury San Francisco hippie

    district Jim Morrison and Doors, Joni Mitchell 1969 half a million people gathered in New York

    to be part of Woodstock

    Although the centre for this movement was notCanada it still gained momentum partly due to Johnand Yokos Bed-In in Montreal

    This was a technological time and youth wereinfluenced through: Television, radio, news, music

    a lot of the music focused on protest and rebellionagainst authority in general- Vietnam war in particular

    minority of Canadians adopted the Sex, Drugs andRock and Roll attitude
