claiming victory in the eighth end.
Saturday evening, the Lion’s Club
hosted a casino in the rink. It was very fun
and enjoyed by all who attended. The Texas
The rings are quiet now, but on the
weekend of February 22nd to 24th they were
anything but quiet. The Curling Clubs of
Wawanesa hosted an Open Bonspiel that was
sponsored by Ellis Seeds.14 teams came out
to battle for either an A side or B side cham-
pion. Congratulations to Brett Hargreaves,
Karis Malyon, Haylee Hargreaves and Mark
Malyon, who won the A side. The B side
champions were Donovan Hamilton, Jeremy
Cory, Dylan Smith and Tanner Riddle.
The B Side final was an exciting match
between Donovan’s rink and his Dad’s (Chris
Hamilton) rink. At the end of the eighth it
was a tied game. It was down to a draw to the
button. Chris was up first. His rock was a lit-
tle past the button. Donovan threw his rock
and it drew onto the button. It was exciting to
watch and Donovan will have bragging rights
until next year’s bonspiel.
The A side final was between Brett
Hargreave’s rink and Katie Gullett’s rink.
There were some great matches to get to the
final, and this match did not disappoint. The
two teams battled hard with Brett’s rink
Brett Hargreaves, Karis Malyon, Haylee Hargreaves and Mark Malyon, winners of the A side.

Holdem tables were busy as was the horse
race game. The Black Jack table saw a num-
ber of players. Some who did very well and
others who donated their chips to the house.
There were many cheers from the game of
seven’s where two HUGE dice rolled down a
slope. The wheel of crown and anchors was
fun but very challenging; there were many
chips donated.
Many great prizes donated to the casino and
bonspiel. Our donors/sponsors were:
Dave and May Kreklewich
Chris Saunders and Denise Andries of
Meadowview Autobody & Glass
Derek and Brittany Martin of Rusty
Bucket Auto
Wayne Gullet of MAR-DEE Enterprises
for the Double Shot challenge.
Mark Plett of PepsiCo Foods donated
many bags of chips.

Annual Report 2018 2018 marked the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. To reflect this, the military display received an update. 526 visitors toured the museum: 69 local folks, 353 from other parts of Mani-toba, 83 from other provinces and 21 from other countries. Julia Thorne and Brett Lane were our capable summer students. We also hosted a bus tour from Glenboro and area. A former board member paid a surprise visit one burger day, dressed in her red serge. Once again, we are ever so grateful to the community for the help we receive, es-pecially the burger cookers, pie bakers and Free Tuesday sponsors. Hamburger Days were successful once again, as 1,763 burgers were cooked and served. We would also like to thank the Royal Bank staff for cleaning the Rounthwaite Church, as well as for a donation. Appreciation is expressed to David Sylvester for a wrench set that he do-nated for a draw, celebrating our new wrench display. Thank you also to Enes Muheljic for his donation of a defibrillator from Norbert’s Manufacturing and to Dennis Gullett who removed a worm-infested tree. A new barbeque was purchased, a new buzzer system was installed and new brochures were printed, which were handed out to campers, with an admission ticket. The skylight was upgraded. Both back doors have been insulated, thanks to Neil, and sev-eral archival boxes were purchased. We were pleased to receive a mone-tary donation from the estate of Merle Aar-hus, as well as a grant from the Oakland/Wawanesa Municipality.

Everyone is Welcome
Winter is sure hanging on. There is lots
of talk of when will spring get here, when will
it warm up, how high will the river rise? We
are still getting January temperatures in Febru-
ary and it looks to continue into March. There
is an eager anticipation of warmth and spring
and summer and everything good that it brings.
Another season is late this year too. The
season of Lent or the 6 Sundays leading up to
Easter. The Easter weekend is a BIG event on
the church calendar. Like Christmas, we
shouldn’t let it come and go so quick.
Our next sermon series will take us
through the last days of the life of Jesus; to re-
flect on the different events that led to His
death and crucifixion. All this, to lead us to a
greater anticipation and make great of, the Res-
urrection of Jesus.
All are welcome to join our service at
11 a.m. You are also welcome to join in on
the Sunday school classes, they are not just
for kids. We have ladies, parents and adult
classes. The coffee and kettle are also al-
ways on.
