SUNGDONG’s proprietarily developed optimal hullProduces higher speed at less power by having structures optimized for vessel operations
Ballast Water Treatment SystemPurifies the ballast water before discharge, thereby protecting marine eco systems
LNG Fuelled ShipGives the advantage of reduced SOx / NOx emissions and improved fuel efficiency by being an environmentally-friendly ship using LNG as fuel
Tier III Allows for voyaging even in ECA(Emission ControlArea) region by applying SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction) or EGR(Exhaust Gas Recirculation)
Anti-Bacteria PaintProvides healthy environment for crews by applying special performance(anti-bacteria) paint coating to Deck house and inside of Engine Room
Low-vibration and noiseEnsures stability by researching into the ways of minimizing noise and vibration generated in large vessels
High-efficiency Waste Heat Recovery SystemImproves energy efficiency by using the diesel engine’s high-temperature waste heat to generate electric power
Low-power Lighting Module developmentImproves energy efficiency by lasting fifty times as longas normal light while decreasing greenhouse gas emissions by 40%
LNG Ready ShipReserves the space required for installation and arrangement of Dual Fuel Engine in the future
Green-type EngineReduces engine speed through longer strokes, thereby paving the way for ship designs with unprecedented high-efficiency
SD Eco-FinImproves energy efficiency by reducing the resistance with optimized streamline
Energy Saving System
Full Spade RudderPrevents rudder erosion for cavitation and reduces fuel consumption
Mewis DuctRecovers the pressure between hull and ducts, converts it into propelling force, and improves the flow field that acts on propeller blades
Twisted Full Spade RudderImproves maneuvering performance, reduces cavitation erosion, and increases propulsion efficiency
Propeller Boss Cap FinsMinimizes energy loss by reducing the influence of vortexes created near the propeller
Propeller Design Optimization System Maximizes energy efficiency based on ship-optimized low-vibration and low-noise propeller
Safe and Efficient On-land Construction System
SHIPbUIlDING teCHNOlOGYSUNGDONG is building highly-efficient and eco-friendly ships through an optimized flow production at the Smart Yard with a world-class on-land shipbuilding system.
On-land ShipbuildingSUNGDONG is the only world-class shipbuilder with super-size yards that can adopt on-land shipbuilding technology. SUNGDONG operates shipbuilding processes not only for commercial ships, such as bulk carriers and oil tankers, but also for special purpose ships, containerships, and offshore facilities. Furthermore, SUNGDONG has its own 80,000TLC and 30,000TLC floating docks which can be used as berths and quays. Based on diverse patented technologies, SUNGDONG has the capacity to build ships in more efficient and eco-friendly ways.
Engine Room Top to Bottom PE methodEngine rooms are loaded on the top and the bottom to minimize loading space occupancy and to expand the pre-outfitting floor.
BLS ProgramBlock Lifting System Program is used to improve quality by minimizing the transformation of the blocks between the lifting modules.
Network Digital Welding SystemNetworked Digital Welding System is another unique technology developed at SUNGDONG, which plays a key role in on-land shipbuilding. The system allows the manager to control the welding system digitally and remotely from the office, and allows even beginners to perform high-quality welding.
Automatic Lettering Robot, ‘GENI’SUNGDONG is striving to improve the quality of its ships by researching and developing welding technologies, which are considered to be the essence of the shipbuilding industry. An automatic digital welding robot called GENI automatically creates letters on the bow and the stern to ensure the highest quality ships.
GTSGripper-Jacks Translift System is designed to move the ships built on-land to the sea by launching it without the use of a dry dock but with the use of balanced gripping force on the ship. GTS is a proprietary technology developed at SUNGDONG, which enables the movement of super-heavy objects in safe and expedient ways.
Multi Point LoadingMulti Point Loading is a method whereby various loading points are established on a skid rail so as to simultaneously divide a vessel into various groups according to those points. Without requiring additional equipment, this method allows groups of blocks to be loaded according to their completion order without having to start from the stern, and to be easily moved and joined together, thereby facilitating the process dramatically.
Ring Type Pre-LoadingRing Type Pre-Loading is a method designed to reduce work time. Blocks are set up and loaded as a single unit from the bottom to the top. The shape of the arrangement resembles a ring. This method reduces the number of blocks and hence the time for loading, thereby improving the turnaround of yards.
Side-ShiftingSide-Shifting is a method whereby a vessel is completely built outside the assembly area, moved onto a skid rail, and launched into the sea. This eliminates the need for the complete construction of a vessel on the skid rail, leading to improved work efficiency, productivity, and cost-efficiency.
