Dear Parishioners:

Next Sunday, June 28 will be my last one at Corpus Christi. This will be the last letter I will be writing to you in the bulle-tin. I have invited the incom-ing pastor, Msgr. Jonas Acha-coso, to write a letter of intro-duction that will be in this space next week.

I have been here at Corpus Christi for a little more than 8 years and I want to thank you, from the bot-tom of my heart, for the support you have shown me during that time. A priest is assigned to a parish to minister to the people of the parish, but I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to you for the ways you have ministered to me. The love you have shown me, the love you have for our parish and the depth of your faith has been an inspiration for me.

I used to love to read mysteries and see if the author could keep me guessing about the outcome of the story. I would have never guessed that the end of my time here at Corpus Christi would have come without my having the opportunity to say goodbye to you without being with you. Msgr. Achacoso has invited me to come back for a farewell celebration when things get back to normal.

In the meantime, please pray for me as I begin a new phase of my ministry at St. Sebastian’s and know that you will always be in my prayers.

Strengthen them by your love that they may continue to be the loving, caring persons you created them to be. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen!

He estado aquí en Corpus Christi por un poco más de 8 años y quiero agradecerles, desde el fondo de mi corazón, por el apoyo que me han brindado durante ese tiempo. Se asigna un sacerdote a una parroquia para ministrar a la gente de la parroquia, pero no pue-do comenzar a decirle lo agradecido que estoy por las formas en que ha ministrado. El amor que me has mostrado, el amor que tienes por nuestra parroquia y la profundidad de tu fe ha sido una inspiración para mí.

Me encantaba leer misterios y ver si el autor podía mantenerme adivinando sobre el resultado de la his-toria. Nunca hubiera imaginado que el final de mi tiempo aquí en Corpus Christi habría llegado sin que yo tuviera la oportunidad de despedirme de ti sin es-tar contigo. Mons.
