FAITH
How do we keep faith alive? One way is to be with others
who are striving to live their faith, each in their own way.
Perhaps a good reason to come to church! We could say
our prayers at home alone, but we would not be sharing
Eucharist, the living Christ who feeds our hungers. We
also need the good example of our brothers and sisters in
faith. Sometimes the best sermons at Mass are the people
around us. We look around us and see good, faithful,
ordinary people. They come because they see some
meaning in our worshiping together. As we come together,
let us thank one another for being here. Seem silly? Not at
all, for our presence to each other can offer hope and
courage and care and inspiration as we strive to live our
faith in a complex world.

Jubilee Year of Mercy
WITH SINCERE APPRECIATION
Thank you to our parish and cemetery staff who
have worked during these hot summer days to do
some outside painting, continue with lawn care, and
remove fallen trees! You efforts are noticed and
truly appreciated!
Saint of the Week On August 8th we celebrate the Memorial of St. Dominic (1170-
1221). Born in Spain, he was ordained a priest in his late 20’s. In
the early 12th c. Dominic sensed the need for the Church to
combat the Albigensian heresy, and was commissioned to be part
of the preaching crusade against it. He saw immediately why the
preaching was not succeeding, Dominic therefore, with three
Cistercians, began itinerant preaching according to the gospel
ideal. His fellow preachers gradually became a community, and
in 1215 he founded a religious house at Toulouse, the beginning
of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans). Today there are over
6,000 Dominican priest, brothers, and sisters throughout the
world. St. Dominic was canonized in 1234. He is the patron saint
of astronomers. To learn more about Catholic Saints visit:

A PRAYER
Lord, stir up the faith within me that I may practice
it, protect it, and love it. Train me in the way of
faith making me sure of what I hope for and certain
about what I do not see. Help my faith to be a
living faith of service that is always accompanied by
action and good works. Amen.

Corpus Christi Parish is seeking to hire a part time (10
hours per week) Campus Minister for Colby College in
Waterville. The primary responsibility is to bring the
Gospel of Jesus Christ to the campus in order to grow a
community of believers who through word and deed put
their faith into action. By encouraging students to a more
intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, the position seeks to
facilitate a deeper appreciation and practice of the Catholic
faith. Through the ministry of hospitality and the ministry
of presence, the position gathers students together for
prayer, discussion, service, and socializing. The position is
responsible for recruiting and training ministers for the
weekly Mass. Through faithful example, the position
identifies and encourages students to take up leadership
positions in the community. Working with student
leadership, the Dean of religious and spiritual life, the
Diocesan office of Campus Ministry, and the parish; the
position coordinates retreats, seasonal programs (e.g. Lent
Easter) and other opportunities for students to respond the
universal call to holiness. This is an academic year position.

friendship and companionship? Will you help
welcome people to our celebrations of Mass? We are
