ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 20TH 7 PM

Corpus Christi Catholic Church

From The Pastor’s Desk

Dear Parishioners,

Next Wednesday, we will have our first Advent Parish Penance Service at the church. It begins at 7 p.m., and there will be a number of priests present to hear your confessions. I urge everyone to take this opportunity to make a good confession and prepare your hearts and souls for the birthday of Our Savior.

Once again, another reminder! Starting on the first weekend of January 6th and 7th, the Sunday morn-ing mass schedule will officially change. It will be 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. & 11 a.m. The Saturday Vigil mass will remain 4 p.m.

Christmas Mass schedule is as follows: Christmas Eve 4 p.m. & 8 p.m. (There is no Midnight Mass this year) and Christmas Day 8:30 a.m. & 11 a.m. [Do not forget that we have two obligations next week-end to fulfill – your Sunday obligation and Christ-mas obligation.]

As most of you already know, there will be a sub-stantial rise in our attendance for Christmas Eve masses and Christmas Day masses. Many families will be bringing their extended family members with them. But, there will be those who are non-practicing Catholics and most likely need confes-sion. And there will be those who are non-Catholics attending as well. Please remind these loved ones and friends to cross their chest to re-ceive a blessing during communion time. Also, the visiting priest and I will be offering confessions be-fore all the masses.

We expect a larger crowd this year. Please arrive early for a seating. The parking lot will filled to ca-pacity. In the event that this happens, we will al-low worshippers to park on the field just to the west of the Marian Hall. We strongly discourage anyone from parking on U.S. Highway 1 or Datil Pepper Road. This is very dangerous. So, let’s en-joy the Birthday of Jesus and everyone have a Mer-ry Christmas this year.

And now some funnies:

#1 – A woman takes her 16-year-old daughter to the doctor. The doctor says, "Okay, Mrs. Jones, what's the problem?" The mother says, "It's my daughter, Debbie. She keeps getting these cravings; she's putting on weight, and is sick most mornings." The doctor gives Debbie a good examination, then turns to the mother and says, "Well, I don't know how to tell you this, but your Debbie is pregnant - about 4 months, would be my guess." The mother says, "Pregnant?! She can't be, she has never ever been left alone with a man! Have you, Deb-bie?" Debbie says, "No mamma! I've never even kissed a man!" The doctor walked over to the window and just stares out it. About five minutes pass and finally the mother says, "Is there something wrong out there doc-tor?" The doctor replies, "No, not really, it's just that the last time anything like this happened, a star appeared in the east and three wise men came over the hill. I'll be darned if I'm going to miss it this time!"

#2- Once upon a time, a perfect man and a perfect woman met. After a perfect courtship, they had a per-fect wedding. Their life was, of course "perfect." One snowy, stormy Christmas Eve, this perfect cou-ple was driving their perfect car (a SUV) along a wind-ing road, when they noticed someone at the side of the road in distress. Being the perfect couple they stopped to help. There stood Santa Claus with a huge bundle of toys. Not wanting to disappoint any children on the eve of Christmas, the perfect couple loaded Santa and his toys into their vehicle. Soon they were driving along deliver-ing the toys. Unfortunately, the driving conditions deteriorated and the perfect couple and Santa Claus had an acci-dent. Only one of them survived the accident. Who was the survivor? The perfect woman survived. She's the only one who really existed in the first place. Everyone knows there is no Santa Claus and there is no such thing as a perfect man. So, if there is no perfect man and no Santa Claus, the perfect woman must have been driving. This ex-plains why there was an accident. Fr. Murphy
