TRULIA SURVEY FINDS WHATʼS IN AMERICAʼS DREAM HOME

(NAPSI)—For 71 percent of Americans, homeownership is part of their personal AmericanDream. So what does this dream home look like? Where is it located and what amenities dopeople dream of most? A recent survey conducted by real estate website Trulia made someintriguing discoveries.

First Comes Marriage, Then Comes Baby and House

The vast majority of millennial renters, aged 18 to 34, plan to buy a home one day—morethan any other generation. Most, however, are not ready to buy a house. This generation offirst-timers was hit hard during the recession and their ability to find jobs, move out of theirparentsʼ homes and eventually become homeowners is a key part of a healthy housing mar-ket. Only 36 percent are currently saving up to buy a home in the next five years. Most havetheir eyes on a new car. Nevertheless, 87 percent believe theyʼll be able to buy their dreamhome one day.

Americans Arenʼt Dreaming of McMansions or Tiny Homes

So what does the American dream home look like? Well, it really depends on how old youare.

In general, Americans arenʼt big fans of McMansions or tiny homes. In fact, 44 percent wanta home between 1,401 and 2,600 square feet. However, as people get older, their dreamhome gets smaller.

Millennials and Gen Xers gravitate toward modern houses, which often have newer amenitiesand technologies. Baby boomers, on the other hand, want single-story ranch homes that aremore accessible.

Only 6 percent of millennials would prefer a high-rise penthouse and only 4 percent dream ofconverted lofts.

Americans Dream of Suburbs

Most Americans—especially boomers and Gen Xers—wanted to live in the countryside andsuburbs rather than a major city. For millennials, a short commute to work and a great schooldistrict were far more important than the actual location.

Dream Home Amenities

Americans love to entertain and eat. The top dream home features a backyard deck, openfloor plan or balcony with a view. Food-related amenities such as a gourmet kitchen or veg-etable garden were also popular.

Millennials, compared to any other generation, want it all. Given the option, 18- to 34-year-olds, would like all the latest and greatest amenities in their dream home—especially a bal-cony with a view.

However, Generation X, 35-54-year-olds, wanted a backyard deck most and would prefer aswimming pool over a vegetable garden.

Baby boomers want a backyard deck, open floor plan, gourmet kitchen and vegetable gar-den.

bereaved families across the country, will host its 10th annual Memorial Walk at the SaratogaSpa State Park on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. This free family event,held in observance of National Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Awareness month, aims to in-crease community awareness and provide support to the tens of thousands of families who areaffected by child loss each year.More than 26,000 stillbirths occur in the United States annually. The Centers for Disease Control(CDC) recently reported that, for the first time, the number of stillbirths has surpassed the num-ber of infant deaths in the U.S. The CDC report may have spurred media discussion; articlesabout the emotional impact of stillbirth have been featured in the Huffington Post and the NewYork Times, giving a face to those who have endured the tragedy. “We are finally talking aboutstillbirth and pregnancy loss, and we need to be sure the conversations continue,” said MichelleMosca, ANA Cofounder and President. The Memorial Walk offers an opportunity to acknowledge and remember, alongside others whohave endured similar tragedies, a baby lost too soon.
