Core Technology Standard 8 Information Literacy SkillsThe competent teacher will develop information literacy skills to be able to access, evaluate,

and use information to improve teaching and learning.

This standard is about how I, as a teacher, will be able to research and access both information

and resources for the enrichment of my teaching. I can use the resources at my fingertips to

better my students education. I can evaluate my students learning and develop assignments and

tasks to encourage higher-level thinking skills. This standard is about how I will be a self-

reflective and student-centered teacher, who understands how to access information to improve

my teaching as well as my students learning.

2. Explain how the artifact you chose demonstrates your understanding and application of thestandard.

The artifact that I chose demonstrates my understanding and application of the standard because

it displays my ability to search for and find resources that will be beneficial for the betterment of

my students learning. This list of resources is one that I can draw from in my future classroom

to deepen my students understanding and enrich their learning in every subject area. This

artifact also shows that depending on what level of learning my students are at, I can use these

technological resources as enrichment or reinforcement. They are versital applications that are

beneficial to every student.

Some of the websites included in this list have been used in my practice within the classroom.

By incorporating both technology and educational activities in the classroom, the students

become more willing and excited to participate and to develop while playing. I think that as I

continue utilizing these resources in the future, I will be more intentional about being sure that

each student has structured time using it. Right now, the resources are used as center time and

computer lab time, but I will be sure to evaluate where the students need growth, and then assign

them an activity that will specifically aide them in their area of trouble, or enrich them in their

area of strength.

4. Conclude with a paragraph discussing how you are more prepared to Teach and Learn in aDiverse Society as a result of satisfactorily meeting the standard.

I believe that as a result of creating this list, I am more prepared to provide my students with an

exciting way to better their education experience. With a classroom of students who have

extremely diverse strengths and weaknesses, I must be prepared to provide for those divers needs

with fun and interesting ways. With a society that is becoming technology-dependent, I can best

reach my students through that means. By having a resource file of websites that the students

can use, I have really set myself up for being more prepared when my students do need extra

support and need to be motivated in a way that excites them. As a result of meeting this

standard, I am more prepared to teach and learn in a diverse society.
