If you are interested, there were links provided in the email. The Officers at the CTA have extensive experience with bargaining and we feel it is one of the most enriching experiences an educator can have. If you have an interest in this, we are encouraging you to apply, as it would be great to have Coquitlam educators on this team. Posting Update There are approximately 150 postings out now in the first round, which closes next Thursday. This is down some, as predicted. There are still approximately 10 postings that didn’t make it in by the deadline and will go out in Round 2. It’s not all about numbers though, obviously; the kinds of opportunities and FTE available also matter. We may go through a couple lean years with posting volume and quality, as the system harmonizes itself with all the new continuing teachers and the supply-side shortage of available qualified TTOCs. Nonetheless, we encourage people to have a look and see if there is a change that is attractive to them for next year. . Local Specialist Associations are a vital to the PD work of the CTA.  This year, there were 14 active LSAsworking to promote and advocate professional development in a specialty area.     LSAs support teachersin specialty areas by offering workshops and sharing resources.  This year, LSAs also providing feedback tothe Executive to help determine bargaining objectives.  They also provide mentorship to teachers new to aspecialty area.  LSA executive members attend district meetings, and are also the liaison betweenProvincial Specialist Associations (PSAs) and members.

Our LSA president, Meggan Crawford, accepted the nomination and was recently re-elected for hersecond term (2018-19).  A heart-felt thank you to Meggan for her leadership in and commitment toproviding meaningful professional development opportunities for teachers in our district.  Her tireless workfor CTA as LSA president, Aboriginal Education LSA president, and Member-at-Large is greatlyappreciated.

If you are interested in joining an existing LSA or forming a new LSA, please contact Meggan or myself for more information.

Take care, Holly
