A True Story-The manager of a movie theater handed the assistant-manager a stack of 50 applications received over the last two weeks with the instructions to choose two to interview. Not knowing any of the applicants, the assistant-manager relied on the manager’s notes that appeared on the top of two of those applications: “Well dressed, good handshake” and “Nice smile, confident.” These were the two who got the interviews.

Another True Story-

Timing can be everything when applying for a job: One young man had turned in his application several weeks earlier, but he made a practice of following up every week. One day, the manager replied to his call, “You know, we just had someone quit. Why don’t you come in tomorrow and we’ll talk.”
