On March 8th, the Low Range Off-Road sponsored Captain Rob Racing Team finished 2nd in class at W.E. Rock Round 1 in Congress Arizona. “It was a hard day,” said Co-Driver Nick Schaefer. “Our old ‘Pro Mod’ Toyota is not even close to being built for that kind of abuse, but it did well.” The Team competed in the Sportsman's Pro Mod class driving their well seasoned 86 Toyota pickup freshly fitted with brand new Maxxis 37” Sticky Treps. They were very pleased with their second place ranking especially since they had one roll-over and were unable to finish two of the 6 courses.
On March 9th, the next day, the Dirt Riot was going
on. The car was still running good, so they threw on another set "running shoes," 32 inch Maxxis Bighorn tires and ran the Stock Sportsman class.
Nick Schaefer said, “The car was running good at first, but at
the first big bump it started running really bad, not much power.” Not
wanting to stop, Driver “Captain” Rob put the front T-case in low and held the throttle to the floor. “We ran the first three laps without any trouble, but on our fourth and final lap we had another ‘small’ concern; our transmission cross member didn't want to be in our car anymore. So we stopped, strapped it up and started out again. Moving slower now . . . but moving nun-the-less. As we came closer to the finish line, our fuel pump over heated and stopped the engine. At this point another racer came along and helped push our car out of the way. Not wanting to walk back, we tried the start button . . and it started! So we continued the race, limping
along to the finish line . . . taking first place in our class!” “After the race we found that one spark plug wire had fallen off the spark plug at the first big bump, so we were running on 3 cylinders pretty much the whole time.”

Raceline wheels is not a newcomer when it comes to beadlocks, they have been in the business for over 20 years. This experience in beadlock manufacturing has landed them one of the largest followings for off road beadlocks on the planet. Why?
Raceline not only has true forged aluminum wheels, but they are also one of the only companies to do a true high pressure cast aluminum wheel. What does this mean? Rather than just let aluminum gravity feed into a mold, their wheels actually have aluminum forced with a ram into a mold. This creates less potential for porosity and aluminum density issues which can lead to wheel failure. Think of the difference like a sponge to a sponge that is squeezed. How many holes exist when the sponge is squeezed?
Raceline knows that their product is going to be used in the harshest off road environments. Let's just say that the wheels are more than purpose built. They not only can be used on your every weekend crawler, they can be used in the cream of the crop off road racing such as ULTRA 4 and King of the Hammers.
Raceline has a lot of time and engineering into their wheels, that is why so many people use them. Look at the racers in the King of the Hammers, almost 60 percent of them run Raceline Wheels. That's a testament to quality in itself. Multiple off road championships and testimonials of the top racers in the world can prove the strength of Raceline wheels.
Raceline has it down... They make unbelievable wheels at a price all of us can afford. They also have a testament to quality and strength in the worst possible environments in the world.
Raceline also cares about others in the community. They recently provided us with much needed assistance for the "Honker Shop" Arlington High School
Students in Arlington, Oregon with a set of new Monster Aluminum Beadlocks. The students are building a rock crawler to fund their use of their Automotive Program. Not only are the students learning valuable fabrication skills, they are able to keep the program continuing for years to come with help from companies like Raceline.
Thanks so much Raceline, keep up the good work!FE

TRIP
REPO
RTRubicon Trail Lake Tahoe, CAlifornia
September 7-14, 2013
Click HERE to see a Highlight video of this trip by Stan Productions.
We started our trip in Orem, Utah, right after Low Range Off-Road’s Annual “Show-and-Shine”. Our first destination was the Great Basin National Park in Nevada where we would spend our first night camping. It was a nice change of scenery from what you see on I-80. We woke up to a little rain but that seemed ok, as we had planned to do the Cave Tour. To our disappointment, we learned the tour was full, so we turned the trucks west and headed for Lake Tahoe.
We camped that night at Lily Lake, which marks the end of the Rubicon Trail but the beginning for us. Yes, we ran the trail backwards. Arriving a little before dusk, we were able to watch a beautiful sun set over the “Lake”. The next morning we began the trail. The road to the top of Cadillac hill wasn’t that bad and it offered a great view down into Rubicon Springs, which was an amazing view. We had a quick break, took some photos and started down Cadillac Hill. This is where the fun begins and all that money spent on armor really payed off. It was about now I was wishing I had 35" tires on my 02 Taco and not these “half-tread” 33’s. At the bottom of Cadillac Hill there is a crystal clear, spring fed, mountain stream called Rubicon Springs. We stopped for lunch, swung off the rope, and swam a bit. The next incline ended at Bake Island Lake where we camped for the night and did a bit more swimming, had dinner and enjoyed a breathtaking view of the stars on into the evening.
We started the last day on the trail, which took us to Loon Lake and the official start of the Rubicon Trail, but the end of the Trail for us. We made the whole (approximately 16 mile) trail without breaking anything or even having to use a winch or tow strap. And yes, I made the whole trail with a camper on for everyone that asked along the trail. I only had to move one rock on a rock face that came a little to close to the camper.
If you want a trail with challenging obstacles, nice camp spots, beautiful scenery and brisk swimming holes, this is trail for you. Thanks for letting us share our Rubicon Trail experience.
