• The Members of the Council attended important international Architecture and Engineering events including: AIA conference & exhibition; Project Qatar; Green Build International Conference & Expo; World GBC's 2009 International Congress in Phoenix; FIDIC 2009 Conference in London; Algiers and Tripoli International Fairs of Construction.

• The Council held meetings with a variety of government officials to emphasize the importance of the service sector and the performance of institutions to support the competitiveness of the Architectural and Engineering consulting services which had a positive affect on new regulations in the Ministry of Trade & Finance.

• New training areas have been recognized and some provided to the members, PMP, one on one marketing training and Marketing Coaching and plans for 6 member companies, financial for non financials, ownership transition strategies for A/E Firms with ZweigWhite, building codes with civil defense.

2009 Highlights

• Our members attended a HR audit tool awareness session which is to be followed by a customed manuals for selected Areas of HR in 2010, training and coaching for a number of member companies on the manuals. (HR audit tool).

• The A/E BC has been working extensively on the Knowledge Management System that provides essential documentation and resources about the sector, and Best practices. (Knowledge Mgt. System)

• Our members have worked together to compile an important Member Directory that will be published for the first time this year that will be an important marketing tool for the members creating visibility internationally and can be distributed to larger international bodies to promote Jordan and the A/E consulting sector. This directory creates an opportunity for your businesses to be referenced as the expert in the region in all areas including quality, experience, competitiveness, language proficiency, and so on.(Directory)

• A/E BC finalized the member's training needs assessment for 2009.

•The focus of the upcoming year will be the Market Intelligence Unit where most of the Council's resources will be spent on getting the unit up and running. It will provide our members with important global trends, business opportunities in regional and international markets, market access and entry regulations, competitor's activities, potential partners, best practices, prices etc.

•Finally, the A/E BC is excited to inform our members that the Council won the JEDCO quick response grant, purchased and installed a smart board and video conferencing unit in our conference room. We will be providing training to the members so that it can be a useful resource for any business communication activity. It should be available for use by the Council and members. This facility will be used for video conferencing, webinars, presentation and media sharing. (list of Best practices collection)& Five of our Members won the JEDCO quick response grant .

•A collection of best practices in business strategies ranging from HR to marketing and everything in between has been published for the sector and distributed to our members. (Between the lines 1) (Between the lines 2)
