FIBERGLASS REINFORCED POLYESTER (FRP) PROPERTIES
An FRP lamination is 5 times lighter than its equivalent of the same size and thickness made from steel. You will also find that if compared against a steel lamination of the same mechanical resistance, the FRP lamination is about half as heavy.
The low coefficient of expansion of the FRP material makes it highly resistant to wide variations of temperature and humidity without showing any deformation. These properties allow REYMSA Cooling Towers to withstand many different types of environments.
Only for appearance purposes, such as dusting or waxing.
It is very easy to perform a minor repair work on the Fiberglass, materials are available all across the country, and the fixing process is as easy as to grind the surface, apply the Polyester Resin which in the form of liquid, one layer of fiberglass cloth and again apply resin. Finally wait until the resin is dried.

VERY EASY TO WORK WITH
FRP material is highly resistant to tension and compression stresses as to impact charges as well, making it a frequently used material in structural applications.
As a rule of thumb, it is required for an FRP lamination to be three times thicker than one made from steel in order to have the same mechanical resistance.
A very simple analogy can be used to have a clear understanding of the FRP properties: The Polyester Resin can be seen as the Cement and the Fiberglass as the corrugated bars in the reinforced concrete.
FRP has at least twice the mechanical resistance of HDPE.
There are several types of polyester resin available in the market for different applications and resistances. The highest protection against environmental attacks is reached by using Premium Isophalic Polyester Resin with UV inhibitor in the manufacturing process of all our Cooling Towers. The life of FRP with Premium Isophalic resin is said to be endless, although REYMSA recommends that 30 years are to be considered when making a life-cycle cost analysis.

Not affected by corrosive sediments caused by airborne impurities collected in the basin, that require the entire cold water in the basin of galvanized and stainless steel towers to be drained, cleaned and flushed quarterly.
Greater resistance to a wide spectrum of pH´s, total dissolved solids, chlorides and sulfates from the water treatement.
Capacity to endure higher levels of concentration of chlorides in the water for the REYMSA Cooling Tower against a Steel (galvanized and/or stainless) Towers. Typically a Pulsed Power Non Chemical water treatment is able to handle up to 400 ppm of concentration of chlorides in the recirculation water, which means more cycles of concentration and less water losses caused by bleeds or blowdowns.

Durability & Minimum Maintenance
Direct drive transmission that eliminates the use of pulleys, belts and bearings.
Our direct drive eliminates the frequent service required by the V-belt drive transmission that translates into higher operational and maintenance costs. Typically a V-belt drive transmission require a quarterly service for checking and readjusting tension on the belt, lubrication of fan shaft bearings, lubrication of the motor base adjusting screws and drive alignment to ensure maximum belt life.
Also by having less components between the fan and the motor, the risk of a failure causing a sudden stop of the fan,which will cause higher operational water temperatures that may stop the entire air conditioning system, is reduced to a minimum.
REYMSA uses the best fan in the market, manufactured using cast aluminum hubs and adjustable pitch air foil blades molded with engineering thermoplastics.
Blade materials: fiberglass reinforced polyamide, which is spark and corrosive resistant, able to resist high vibration levels and high temperatures. Ambient operating air temperatures may fluctuate from – 50°F to 250°F.
Fan Motors: all our Tower models feature motors that exceed the Cooling Tower duty characteristics. REYMSA Fan Motors are NEMA Premium Efficient, TEFC, 1.15 service factor, 100% cast iron construction for SEVERE DUTY, INVERTER DUTY, and MARINE DUTY applications, EPROXY PAINT, inpro/ seal vbx bearing isolators on both ends of the shaft, brass drain and breather, 6-60 hz variable torque.

HIGHEST SURFACE TO VOLUME RATIO PVC FILL FOR SMALLER FOOTPRINTBy having the highest specific surface area ft2/ft3, our fill provides the highest surface area for the heat transfer for all HVAC and most Industrial applications. The PVC compounds used in our fill have outstanding resistance to weather exposure and are nearly impervious to chemical degradation by alkali, acids, grease, fats, oils and biological attack. Also has excellent fire rating due to its self-extinguishing characteristics and meets or exceeds Cooling Technology Institute (CTI) PVC materials standard 136.
Hot water manifold manufactured of PVC schedule 40, with PVC welded branches tested at 100 psig., to assure reliability and prevent water leakages that affect the tower efficiency, due to wearing of union gasket as other manufacturers do.
THE MOST RELIABLE HOT WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
Fixed, non-clogging large orifice nozzles, 2 ½" , N.P.T., largest in the market, manufactured in ABS plastic, able to handle up to 180°F water temperature, with interchangeable internal devices so that water is efficiently and uniformly distributed across the entire fill surface. Nozzle body has threaded connection and it is easy to remove.

EASY, REMOVABLE, ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY AIR INLET LOUVER DESIGNOur triple pass PVC air inlet louvers are designed to block the direct sunlight to the water, minimize the splash out, and to reduce the noise, while having low pressure drop that results in less fan motor energy consumption. Blocking the direct sunlight and allowing very little light to pass through, the potential of algae growth is reduced, therefore reducing water treatment and maintenance cost. Additional characteristics are its durability by being corrosion-free, and impervious to chemical attacks. PVC is specially formulated for UV resistance, and fire resistance, non-combustible and self extinguishing.
EASY MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING ACCESS
Wide and easy access for monitoring or cleaning the inside of the Tower and the cold water basin by removing the access door or the air inlet louvers.

Assembly is reduced to placing and bolting the fan cylinder on top of the one-piece body and basin section. No gasket or caulking is required.
The reduced footprint of our Induced Draft, Counterflow design requires less structural base support, and frequently less piping than the crossflow towers.

EXAMPLE:
Select the HRFG Model REYMSA Cooling Tower to cool 1200 GMP of clear water from 95 °F to 85 °F at entering air wet bulb of 78 °F.
STEP 1 RANGE is equal to the temperature differential between the entering water temperature ( T1 ) and the leaving water temperature ( T2). (95 °F - 85 °F ) = 10
STEP 2 APPROACH is equal to the temperature differential between the leaving cool water temperature ( T2 ) and wet bulb temperature ( TWB ). ( 85 °F - 78 °F ) = 7
STEP 3 From Section A: TOWER SELECTION FACTORS; Select the apropriate wet bulb temperature table ( 78 °F ). Select the range column ( 10 ) and in Approach row ( 7 ), the Tower Selection Factor = 4.8
STEP 4 Next, go to Section B: CAPACITY TABLES; Enter the column headed by the “ Tower Selection Factor ” determined from Section A ( 4.8 ) and read down that column to the desired cooling water flow rate equal to or greater than that specified ( 1200 gmp ). Look to the left on the row with the desired cooling water flow and read the corresponding HRFG816215 REYMSA Cooling Tower model to satisfy your requirements.

Furnish and install an induced draft, counter flow, factory assembled, All-Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP) casing and structure Cooling Tower(s) of ______ cells, as shown on plans. Tower shall be similar and equal in all respects to REYMSA HRFG model ______________.
The tower shall have the capacity to cool _______ GPM of water, from _______ °F Entering Water Temperature, to ______°F leaving water temperature, at a design entering air wet-bulb temperature of _______ °F the performance shall be certified by the Cooling Tower Institute (CTI) in accordance with CTI Certification Standard STD-201. Additionally, the Cooling Tower manufacturer shall guarantee the performance of each cell as installed according to plans.
The entire casing and structure shall be constructed of Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP). Only a high grade isophalic polyester resin with UV inhibitor shall be used in the manufacturing process. For One and Two Fan units, the entire body and basin shall be constructed in one-piece, seamless, watertight FRP. No side fasteners will be allowed at the sidewalls of the body or the basin. There shall not be any metal support or structure in direct contact with water. For the one and two Fan units, there shall be one or two independent fan cylinders with a motor support to be constructed completely of FRP, no metal motor support shall be allowed; to be mounted on top of the body structure held in place with stainless steel fasteners provided by the manufacturer, no gasket shall be required, and shall include a corrosion resistant protective mesh screen cover to prevent airborne objects into the fan. The Four Fan units shall consist of three sections; the body shall be constituted by two independent, seamless, watertight FRP pieces, held together with stainless steel fasteners on the sides, provided by the manufacturer. The basin shall be constituted by two independent, seamless, watertight FRP pieces, held together by side stainless steel fasteners provided by the manufacturer. Multi-piece walls or sheet metal wall sections will not be allowed. There shall not be any metal support or structure in direct contact with water. The fan cylinder structure shall have a motor support constructed completely of FRP. No metal supports shall be allowed. All three sections shall be held together by perimetral flanges with stainless steel fasteners provided by the manufacturer, no gasket shall be required. The entire One, Two or Four Fan tower shall be designed and constructed to withstand wind pressure of no less than 30 pounds-force per square foot (psf) on external surfaces. The top of the body shall be designed and constructed to withstand a live load of no less than 40 psf in addition to the concentrated loads of the fan or other equipment mounted thereon. The One, Two and Four Fan unit basin shall be equipped with cold water outlet, drain with mesh screen cover, overflow, water make-up, drain equalizer and purge fittings. All drain fittings 3" and smaller shall be NPT and larger than 3" shall be ANSI flange (FRP or PVC). A bottom sump drain shall be available for dry sump installation, if required.
Fill shall be cross corrugated film-type, thermoformed PVC, in sections not to exceed 1' x 1' x 6'. For hot water temperatures higher than 130°F, Aluminum or Polyestyrene fill may be used, as applicable. For Higher water temperatures, drift eliminators shall be thermoformed PVC, in sections not to exceed 1' x 1/2' x 6'. Drift losses shall not exceed 0.005% of the design circulating flow. Louvers shall be thermoformed PVC on all four sides of the tower(s).
The hot water shall enter the body through a single inlet per cell. All interior distribution piping shall be PVC, for industrial applications for higher water temperature, fiberglass or Stainless steel piping may be used as applicable. Water shall be evenly distributed over the fill media by a removable, interchangeable ABS (2 1/2") Spray Nozzles. Nozzles shall each contain internal, interchangeable flow devices to provide an optimal spray pattern with 2 to 10 psig pressure differential.
Fan(s) shall be propeller type, fan blades shall be constructed with Fiberglass Reinforced Polyamide, spark and corrosive resistant with adjustable pitch suitable for high temperature operation up to 250°F. Hub(s) shall be aluminum alloy castings. Fan(s) shall be directly driven. Towers utilizing gear reducers or belt driven units will not be accepted.
There shall be single speed, Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC), phase, Hertz, volts. Electric Motor(s), NEMA rated for continued operation at a 1.15 service factor. Each motor shall be horsepower for a total Horsepower at RPM.
